And yes, if you have a shorty downpipe, this is the cat that goes on after it...the pumpkin cat that you see under the car. **EDIT** Only reason there is a charge for gutting it is because I'd need some more dust masks before I did it because I'm out. And because I'm sure there is something carcinogenic about the sh1t that is in the catylist...what it takes exhaust and removes bad stuff from it? I can't imagine the bad stuff just disappears or turns into smurfs.
Haha. Yes, the cats are very carcinogenic and gutting them can be a pain. I'm just checking to see if we're talking about the same part as Ive seen lots of confusion abou the exhaust. I'll take the 3rd cat. I'm planning on getting a shorty and the 06 3rd cat section seems to be a diff length from previous years... Thanks!

Really? not even at a stop light? I had a catless MKIII supra turbo years ago and it smelled like ass to me. I just assumed it would be the same for the wrx. Either way, I plan on a test pipe and will use the stock cat if it stinks. Then a HF cat if it sucks.
i have noticed that running catless doesnt produce teh bad smell like many other cars. although i do notice a heavy gas smell, but i am running really rich.
