Omg. I have been missing out. Took my 13 wrx out today with my general altimax arctics and could not believe it. I will never drive anything other than a subaru again. Cars were sliding thru lights, spinning trying to get going and I'm plowing thru the snow like I'm on dry pavement. I'm officially a lifelong subi owner!
He's just having an "I told you so" moment...give him a second. Lol. You would have only been half as excited if you would have gone with new "all seasons".
No I'm having a why the **** is this a new thread when he has an entire thread on the subject of tires moment... unless he actually thinks its his magical subaru that made driving through todays snow easy.
Well ok. This is a different topic not a tire question. I'm proclaiming my love for subaru and winter tire combination. But feel free to **** on my parade
This is my first winter with a Subaru/AWD. Such a blast sliding it around today. It still plows forward too much for my liking though.
This is my 2nd year having my RS. Last year didn't really get the chance to "test" out a Subaru in the snow. Im very eager to see the limit on these AWD's. But glad you found something very useful in a Subaru
I survived 3 winter seasons on a all-season tire(bridgestone potenza re92) without getting into an accident or in a ditch or spinning out etc, it must of been my subaru or my driving or both. but I also drove 4 years with a fwd car with all seasons and no issues Those cars that are in the ditch, sliding etc, it's all their heavy right foot and/or super glued foot on the brake pedal Glad you like your new car, no subaru for me this weekend, so no fun like you guys are having
Listen here Wong! I don't care how good your all seasons were...my comment was about how he's twice as happy with winters. Lol. I'm just Joshin ya.
I can say I love the AWD on my 2013 Legacy but these freakin stock Bridgestones suck a$$...I need some winter meats !!!
I'm sure that they aren't great, but i can assure you that it's the kind of snow more than anything. It's wet and slushy so it packs in the treads and then you're running slicks. I was cruising around earlier and i had very little traction with my winters and they only have one winter on them. The side streets weren't too bad tho.
Yessir! It's had a hard life of accidents, a flood, motor swapping, has 228,+++k miles on the body/chassis...hopefully soon to go under the knife for the rust repair and maybe a respray. I even added another to the garage(the RSVX). Family is growing! lol
I've noticed you're running on stock wheels in your other snow post, what tyres are you using? I have some bridgestone potenza all seasons that honestly scare me when i drive in this snow, the car absolutely won't turn but wants to go straight. i wonder if i should try to stick out this winter with them and by snows next year or buy 16in steelies with snows asap.
This was directed at me. I have: 2011 WRX OEM Wheels (17x8") General Altimax Arctic Tires (225/45R17)
So did I. Then I put kickass tires on a FWD car, and realized that AWD is overrated Of course, I was getting kind of irritated with how mediocre my car was doing this weekend. Then I realized that there was a good chance I never rechecked the pressures since LSPR (dry roads, got 38.4 mpg on the round trip). Yep.....38psi. Not ideal. Dropped to 28, much better. Also, the only time I've ever damaged anything by hitting a curb in the snow, was in an AWD subaru with snow tires....
