Hey, my name is Adam and I've been looking for awhile and finally pulled the trigger on an '11 STI. I don't have any pics yet, but the ad is still up on CL (also not good pictures):

A good choice I hope!!! It's fun, I like it a lot, but I would't mind trading trunk lids with someone with a DGM WRX if I could find one. Other than that I'll probably leave it mostly stock, at least until the warranty is up. I did realize that it has a K&N intake on it, and I'm pretty sure is not tuned at all which from what I read is not good? So I guess I'll either be posting in the WTB section looking for the stock airbox, or looking for a tune now.

What sort of K&N filter? If it is just a drop in filter then a tune is not required. If your intake is replaced with a K&N short ram (Hot Air) intake then I would suggest a tune.

I don't want you to be scared, but you should budget for pistons, sooner than later. Enjoy!

That sounds great but unfortunately I'll be out of town. Thanks for the heads up though, maybe next year.

Well, you did scare me a little bit. Do you say that because it's been run with an intake and no tune? Or just in general?

It's a K&N Typhoon intake. Now that I'm getting used to the car, I can tell that it doesn't run quite right. Doesn't idle quite right, and has some rough spots through the RPM range (especially a hiccup at about 4.5k). I found a thread where someone with this exact intake proved that his car ran like crap without a tune:

I'm not going to drive it much or hard until I get this taken care of. I sent a message to the previous owner to see if he has the stock parts. If not I'll either post in the WTB section here, or just have NF tune it. Wish I would've known this before, but the car is mine now so I'll correct the problem and deal with whatever happens.

I believe the power dip around 4.5K is normal on a stock tune.
