Heyoo to everyone out there, I'm just a 17 year old who bought his own WRX and wants to get into cars. Completely stock, so any reccomendations on mods or projects would be appreciated (or any tips on changing timing belt; my next project) I was wondering if there was any car sticker this forum has? Im not into covering my car with stickers but I'd be happy to support my local Subaru forum, God knows they need the support now. Too many people have been leaving these forums, from what I can tell. All that being said, the moment I'm 18, expect me at one of the meet ups! (Strict parents = no fun most of the time :[ )
Welcome Eric! You are right, too many car forums are dying! I’ve been around here a long time and there are a good amount of active members. Weekly and monthly meets, as well as a big summer cruise! Glad to have you aboard! -Josh
Welcome. Good for you on the purchase. Nice car! There is a sticker thread posted, so search for that. Enjoy the WRX!
Welcome to the Subaru community! Have you joined any Facebook groups? Be careful modifying your car. Well-calculated modifications can backfire too. Don't modify your engine unless you're prepared for catastrophic failure. NEVER use credit to buy parts unless you can IMMEDIATELY pay them off. Most insurance companies will not compensate you for aftermarket parts.
The one mod that I'd feel comfortable recommending is going Cobb AccessPort Stage 1. It fixes the terrible OEM engine tuning and makes pretty much any turbo Subaru drive a lot nicer. I'm also a fan of investing in an AOS for turbo Subarus. Plus 'driver mod', aka going to a good driving class that will teach you car control so we don't see a picture of your car by Haloween, post curb-encounter Welcome!
We are all gear heads no matter what we drive. AOS would be a good investment. I attached a video so you can learn more about what blow-by is. Did you inspect your oil for contaminants? Winter driving courses would be beneficial.
A winter driving/defensive driving course would be a good first mod for you. Depending on your insurance it can also help with the cost of that as well.
