anyone here works at cabellas or gander moutain that can hook me up with some fishing equipment... getting ready for spring...
What kind of gear are you looking for? If anyone here works at Gander or Cabella's we need to be friends.
Have you checked out Cabella's Bargin Cave? There aren't any bait casting combo's up right now, but you could easily build one for cheap. I get a lot of my gear there. Here is the combo page: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/subcategory/subcategory.jsp?id=cat21406 and here are the reels: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/subcategory/subcategory-index.jsp.7_A&_DAV=&returnPage=&rid=&returnQueryString=&navAction=push&navCount=0&parentId=&id=cat601360&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406
Gotcha. I don't use bait casting setups. I've found them to be too much hassle for what they're worth. I can have my line in the water longer when I'm not dealing with backlashes. A lot of the pros are dumping them now too for the same reason. Where and what do you fish?
i usually fish for white bass, bass and croppies here and there. usually i'm out to red wing and what about you? any hot spots?
I don't fish bass unless I have to. I prefer Walleye and Northern. I fish the Metro lakes whenever I can, and don't know any water down south - I've never even been down there.
you're doing it wrong j/k the majority of my reels are baitcasters. then again i mainly target pike and muskie and the thumb control while casting huge lures is important for me. i maybe get maybe 1 backlash during a season. this thread is a good reminder that I need to respool at least half of my reels this year
http://mnfishingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=62 Big bass and northern in this lake. Summer fishing can be a pain, as its really hard to get to, but it's do-able if your dedicated That day we also pulled out 4 northerns, it's stocked by the people who live on the lake, we found that out from the DNR that stopped by that day. Lots and lots of pan fish in there as well.
that's a tiny lake - is there a public access or at least a spot to drop in a canoe? minnetonka is my favorite lake for muskie around the city followed by calhoun/harriet and then independence. there's one other one that's a little farther away that i'm blanking on. i haven't pulled anything over 40" out of city lakes though, lost some ones in the mid 40's on tonka and independence though. there's only one lake i fish for big pike and it's staying a secret for now
There is a way to do it, there are two beaches on lake Ann. The beach on the northeast side of Lake Ann is where you start from, from there there is a small path off to the right of the beach that leads down to small creek that connects the two lakes, you can drop your canoe right at the mouth of the creek on Lucy's side (the tree line that seperates the two lakes is only about 50yards wide). From there, work your magic around the creek mouth at around 8-12' and you'll latch into bass and northerns all day long. Map
interesting, i'll have to check it this season i need to test my secret lake this year to see if it's still good (it's been declining the past few years with heavy development and subsequent runoff into the lake but if I'm still averaging 30" pike (used to be able to catch a dozen in half a day between 25 and 40"). it is also canoe access only (unless you own property on the water) and relatively unfished. if it's still good I'll let some catch and release only people in on the secret (lake is very small and spring fed - total sleeper)
what kind of rod and real are you looking at i can usually swing some deals through some of the people i fish tournaments i just need models and ill call around. also a fun lake for muskies is french lake down by fairbolt but in the metro id check out forest, prior, or white bear all good places. usually i'm out to red wing Are you from around that area? you should venture up to hastings i can bring ya out on the mississippi/croix show ya a few spots to try for bass and muskie/northren
