only have about 5 minutes of break, so I can't really do too much researching right now...

does anyone know any other front mounts that allow you to keep you stock fog location aside from, the turbo xs
I was looking at the perrin front mount, and I really like the look..

I want function mor ethen looks tho.
so if it will completely lag the crap out of the car...
    not what I want.

mod list is all going to lead up to a fpgreen / or a 20g (havn't decided which.. but since I want quick spool, I don't want to go too much bigger... advice is alwase welcome... NO on the rotated mounts))

    perrin front mount
    power ent injectors
    fuel pump
    manifold
    headers
    hardpipe inlet
    turbo

I'm sure theres some more lust in there but thats about the jist of where I want to take it...

aim is a daily driver with a quick spool, and hard love on the low end, but still is able to have some thrust on the top.

ebay intercoolers have less fin density than the turbo xs models, do a search on www.nasioc.com and you'll find the whole thread.

You can't find the good ssautochrome ones on ebay anymore. You will have to search for one on a forum. Also yes they are worth it. I have one with my vf39 and yes I know its over kill. But I have yet to see a 2.0 with the same turbo make 270 whp.

Well, I agree, with it coated, and wrapped, and heatshield, you shouldn't have to worry too much about heatsoak

Heatsoak is only a issue in stop and go traffic, and even there what are you really going to do? I have been running air temp probes in my car for 5 years, and until you are running big stuff (gt30/35/bigger), a tmic will be fine. The biggest thing to a tmic is getting a good seal between the scoop and IC to make sure all the incoming air goes through the IC. Scooby02 is running the temp probes in his fmic and we run the same temps until we hit stop and go traffic. Even his fmic starts to heat soak a bit. As for the cool down, it takes probably a extra 1/2 mile or so before the tmic gets cooled back down. My .02, stay with a large tmic.

ok so then the next question before I start digging into the other mods is the age old turbo question..

    I do want stock location...

so what are your opinions for the best possible stock location turbo.
superzilla, 20g, fp green ... i'm sure there are others...

somewhat quick spool with throw your ass back fun.

18G's are worthless. Nothing like spool time of a 20G with only 16G power.

What do you want out of your car? Straight line performance. Frum cone performance? I like straight line performance. So with that being said I am looking for one of the three turbos you just listed. Am I going to have a crappy spool time? Maybe. Is there ways to fix that? Of course.

quite honestly I don't really "race" I just like my power to be called upon when I want it. Usually on the highway when some stupid honda thinks i'm racing and I really just want to pass him lol. I just don't want to count to 5 before I get pressed back in my seat...

I also don't want to zip through 3 gears from a stop light before I get any balls to the wheels. so those rotated mounts just seem like tooo much lag... I don't want to have to build the ever living piss out of my engine just to support the turbo.
(if i have to I have to.. I love my car.. and will give it the respect it deserves if it needs it to survive forever)

all this, is why the superzilla is looking so sexy...
is anyone going to UNI tonight that has a sexy turbo willing to give me a quick ride? I guess nothing really helps decide what you want untill you feel it for yourself and understand what your willing to give and take.

Word. People who complain about "lag" have never gotten a ride in your laggy-ass humongous turbo car.

Agreed. FMICs are only beneficial on the dyno and at the 1/4 mile strip for the vast majority of turbos for our cars.

Are you running a sti?? If so I wouldn't go anything smaller than a 20g. those are getting right around 300 on pump and 350 on race. The difference in spool between the 20 and green is not a whole lot, but the green will blow away the 20g on race gas, pump gas it will be pretty close. Now, if you are running a 2.0l motor, the 16g (big/evoIII) will get you the best spool vs power. a 20g on a 2.0l motor will get ya about 19-20 psi around 5k.

Does anyone here that has a fmic drive in the winter months?

What happens to an intercooler when you pack it full of snow?<<real question. :p

Well, it would be just like your radiator, it will get hot. If you don't have air flowing though it it doesn't work. I have tested it out with my water spayer. if you just dump tons and tons of water on the ic, it will actually heat up the air going through it. It is all about getting the heat to the surface of the metal and disapating it from there. The only way that can happen is for air to be moving though the ic. Now, the snow will chill the air for a bit, but just like with a air-to-water ic system, once the core starts to warm up, it will continue to keep warming up. So basically the snow that is directly touching the IC will melt and give the ic a inefficient heat transfer.

Hmmm. I figured that it would make the fmic inefficeint. So this is due more to the water getting in, than the blockage of air?

It explains why most of the fmic cars on here are garaged during the winter....dream:roll:.

Seriously though Chris. I'm thinking that I wouldn't sport the fmic, you know how we roll. That thing would be packed full in the first 2-3 minutes out of the garage. Snow drift0rzing is Ftw most definitely. Wouldn't trade it for the lack of rust.

edit: hahaha...how we roll, I forgot about my avatar<<<. lol, proof is in the puddin'.

Where can we get some "Got Snow?" stickas?

werd. Keep it out of the snow piles and I'll be o.k. Need to touch up on my driving skills then. Lol.

So, is mass water in through the hood scoop onto the tmic just about as bad?

good times slidewayz, i gotta get those pics from you sometime from last winter, and the videos... on another sidenote, this winter should be interesting with full coilovers and retarded stiff springs. lol
