I know its been discussed across every board and forum for years, but I have a more specific Q?

I have had one on my gti in th ewinter and it acted more like a snow shovel causing all sorts of problems due to no flow(ie the big ass wall of snow stuffed in my bumper)

I have an aftermarket tmic but want a fmic, so....

anybody have this same prob with subarus, i know a lot of you rock the fmic and I love playing in dirt and snow-any comments???

    save and buy fmic/keep TMIC
    (NOT DISCUSSING WHICH FLOWS BETTER!!!)

An FMIC caked in snow should actually be more efficient since water is a great conductor of heat. An intercooler can work in more mediums than just air. I wouldn't worry about getting snow in it.

I have had mine on the sti for 2 winters and it still looks like new, even after hitting lots of snowbanks on the lake. you might want to put some sort of screen in front of it for winter

i vote TMIC just for less lag and that added sleeper effect.
plus the whole not having to worry about bumping things or getting it caked with snow/dirt etc..

fmic is definately an attention getter ^ like martin said.

It can be done in a way where it isnt as noticable though. Dream's almost blends in to the silver on his car, and is so big that it fills the whole opening, eliminating the outline. That definately looks sick and is functional with that huge of a turbo.

I'd spend the money on all sorts of suspension stuff first though. Kartboy rear shifter bushing, rear sway bar, endlinks, bigger swaybar mounts, lowering springs, good strut tower braces....

Then you could do some brakes: Stainless steel lines, hawk pads, frozen rotors...Or go for the brembos.

Then you could add some more subtle exterior stuff: Extra little front lip, rear spats, those HIDS you really want...

FMIC wise, I'd say get it if you want it, because the CF bonnet scoop ruins the "sleeper" look anyways. I dont really see a performance excuse for it, but it would look pretty sick.

oh, and dont forget the jdm steering wheel....;)
