I'm just lettin off some steam. I have a '92 polaris 500 and it wasn't running right so i brought it in to the shop and yesterday they told me that it needs 3 new bearings a new piston and a bearing for the speedometer and some other parts that i cant remember. In the end it will cost about 550 for everything. I paid 600 for it last winter. I was so pissed when i heard that.

It probably happend because it needed crank seals, it ran lean and took down 1 cyl, which trashed the bearings. Two strokes dont generally last that long, maybe 10K miles (on the insanely high end) My dad might be able to look at it, PM me if you are interested.

They never made a 500 triple in those years. 82 or 3 was the last year for the centurion 500 which was the only triple 500. Its a twin.

The bearing for the speedometer would most likely be the dry side drive shaft bearing. Probably needed some grease some miles ago. Fixing and snowmobiling go hand in hand. I had a race sled a few years back and did more wrenching than riding although I beat it like a red headed step child so that was expected. Best thing is to get a manual and fix things yourself cause they need a lot of maintenance for their short mileage lifespan.
