So I am pretty new and I personally like when you go into detail so would you follow up a bit more on this Pid. I have a set of JDM struts coming my way should I look into this?

Also Pid sorry forgot your real name

Its all good. I've been used to people referring to me by my last name, Pidde or some variant, since junior high. Dan works, or Dan The Man if you are a female ;)

When we lower our strut cars, we really mess with our suspension geometry. When a strut type suspension compresses, it gains negative camber until the lower control arm comes to a 90 degree angle with the strut itself. By lowering the car, we are messing with this camber curve, and how it interacts with toe, among other things. This causes more bump-steer, which will unsettle the car under cornering load if you hit a bump.

This kit lowers the connection point of the control arm to the upright(knuckle), and lowers the tie-rod end connection to the knuckle to compensate for us lowering our cars.

Depending on how low you go, you may or may not need it. If its only like 3/4", probably not. 1.5" or more, I'd think so. The ideal setup would be a way to adjust infinitely, but that introduces several engineering challenges to the mix.

OK. What I found at Turn in Concepts was a ball joint relocation kit that still uses the stock ball joint. $460 :eek4:

Personally, I don't like heim joints on a daily driven, year-round car, but to each his own. TiC has that Whiteline kit for $175, which is a pretty good price for what it is.

Probably. I emailed boxer4racing since thats where I got all my suspension stuff to begin with and they're pretty nice guys. They don't have it listed on their website yet so I asked them what kind of price they can give me.

You thinking about a group buy of some sort? I'll probably wait until I get my tax return which will be in next weekend.

You don't "need" it, but a slammed car will handle better and not need as much swaybar to reduce body lean and understeer in corners.

Their setup does look good, but I'm against using heim joints on anything other than a summer/race car. The Whiteline set has nice boots for the ball joints and petty much looks factory, other than the yellow boots.

agreed. also, I think technically heim joints aren't DOT legal. There was some talk about that on the USMB when we were talking about using them to increase travel on the lifted rigs.....I'll see what I can dig up.

I've been looking at these for awhile. I though I remember there being options for some time, but since I hadn't actually done the 5-lug swap, I didn't look beyond the concept.

I would like to do this before summer comes along. I do plan on going up a bit from where I'm at now, but will still be substantially lower than stock. but first I'll need to compare an EA82 tie rod end (what I'm running now) with an EJ one.....I know the threads and tapered press-fit are the same size....but I'm wondering about the length. IIRC an EA82 steering rack + EJ tie rod ends makes it almost impossible to get anything less than 0 toe.

MA Performance is a great local Whiteline dealer. If you're looking to do a group buy, it might be worth checking in with them.

If these were legal in STS, they'd already be on my car.

I'm already in Street Mod, so I'm game. I don't want to get crazy with a rear bar so this should be a great way to cut down on the understeer.
