Hi all, this is my first post and I'd like to use it to make a suggestion: A sticky or forum dedicated to car tools you are willing to let people use. For instance: I have a motive power bleeder (for bleeding your brakes) I'd be willing to let anyone use. I have the adapter for European cars as well as the Ford 3-prong (Subaru) adapter. I think this would be a great resource for us DIYers - there's no sense in buying a specialty tool you will use once a year if someone else already has it. If anyone needs them, I also have a breaker bar, torque wrench, impact wrench, rhino ramps, jack & jack stands, 10" random orbital buffer, and a tool for pressing a wheel bearing on my wife's 02 jetta. Let me know what you think.
I have a whole shop of tools... but not ready to let anyone and everyone come use them.... ha ha ha... does beanflickr mean what I am thinking???
that's what I figured too...that's y I wanted everyone's thought on this...Not everyone will be keen to let a stranger use there tools...Unless we do a few rules on it...like deposits (in case the tool(s) get lost, broken, or unreturned)
everyone should know that my shop is open for doing installs. 261 richmond st. st. paul, mn 55102 unless you dont like drinking beer and installing car parts
So Justin are u stating that not only members can use your tools but they can also do their own installs at your new shop?
i dont know. i'm stating i'll do installs on the cheap at my shop. some of you that have already contacted me already know what "cheap" is
I once heard a saying... the joy of a cheap price doesnt last as long as the bitterness of getting what you pay for!!!! . . . . . . . .. . . Dont let this be YOU....... business is tough when working on CUSTOMERS cars, (not friends and club members) but people who have a different expectation of what should be done for a certain $$$$$..... I aint trying to preach to the choir.. just a heads up after almost 3 yrs in the auto business of car repairs and maintenance... it sucks... ha ha
I totally agree with sogonerg - if the tool leaves my garage I want a deposit as security that it will come back (and be unbroken when it returns)
i'm lost with this. i think everyone will work out fine working in the shop bs'ing drinking a few brewskies while installing a few things. i dont know...but i guess thats just me. i agree
I mean if you open your shop to more than just friends and club members and expand into general public... ie installing brakes, parts etc on Joe Bloes car... not sure if you intend to go that path or do the shop front for parts etc... and let friends / club memebrs just hang out and use the shop... (that scenario is a little different - Hope you got good insurance cause the legality and OSHA thing will kill ya if anything happens to 'NON-EMPLOYEE' ) just trying to help cover your arse as a business.... it is America and we all know its not your fault its the other persons!!!
i hear ya man. i honestly dont know where i'm going with this yet. ps- you arent secretly testing the new points system...I AM
