He lives in the sticks. I believe directions to his house include "Turn off the paved road"

This is Nate being the lad he usually is! LOL Thanks for entertaining me, I had the same experience yesterday on the lake, where some snow mobilers plowed two drag strips and so I decided to go mess'n around and got stuck. Luckly some other guys where there doing the same thing and helped snapped my Forester out as well.

well it all started with an argument with a teen that was hanging out at our house last night.. had like 7 of them here... he was going on that a big v8 heavy car would be better in teh snow etc.. I asked him how he thought something front wheel drive or rear wheel drive would handle snow deeper then a foot...

we argued, we 'discussed' traction and acceleration issues... he bought up the Cadillac Csvt or whatever the name is about how 500Hp is better... I said how.. if all you are doing is spinning your wheels.. I had thrown in a couple of times during the argument.. would you want to take a drive with me?? he politely would say NO... the other teen standing there was on my side, as he has driven my car and been in it multiple times, even has come to Firestone meets with me...

So finally he asks how 4wd/awd is better.. with a simple.. well for 1 you have twice the driving force on the ground... "would you like to take a little drive in mine??"

    ok... he says...

Now remember this is at 10pm at night in -10F... as we are getting into the Forester, the other teen says dont do anything to crazy at first... just scare him a little...

my reply was... "I wont.. I dont want to go in the ditch!"

(earlier about an hour before.. I had ripped across my backyard doing donuts etc, then in teh driveway area, trying 8's and more donuts as it is kinda icey... hit a snowbank on a huge slide... ha ha ha)

anyways... 30 seconds out of the garage I say might wanna hold on.. as I mash the pedal to the floor... the Forester hesitates, then all of a sudden takes of "sideways" like a cat scared you know what.... we are fish tainling it down my driveway (about 3/4) of it doing about 45-50mph... my driveway is a couple of hundred feet long (Bill may know more accurately how long - the driveway that is)

The argumentetive teen is kinda screaming like a little girl about now... which I replied to him.. see a little 4 cylinder can go well... we shoot down the dirt roads, (icey and snow) at about 55-65.. into an e-brake turn, back on the gas.. he screams... up my driveway... where I realise another teen had parked in my usual access to the backyard snow-field... so I decide at very short notice doing about 45mph up my driveway that I will try to go around the house the other way.. didnt look too deep...

the pics above was the result of theat poor judgement ha ha ha

I will run out in a bit and get some daylight pics... I made it a long way in before she finally came to rest..

    Silly Aussie ;)

Next time your friend wants to start saying a CTS-V is better just ask how the car is going to go anywhere after he blows the rear diff out after the axles hop themselves to death on slippery surfaces.

Damn you GM. I really had my next car picked out too :(

That's Great ^ I love the flying down the drive way side ways at 45mph, that is the best, Last year I hit a tree with our Dodge Durango in 2wd $1000 latter and 10hrs of body work it was good as new, Needles to say I've never hit anything flying down the drive way with the subie, yet......

When I first got my car it had the RE92s. Boooo.

Anyway. Long story short, a Ford Expedition has a hard time keeping up with a Subaru with all-season tires on a snowy soccer field.

Good story. I have to admit that almost everytime I got stuck, crashed or broke stuff on my toys, I was showing off, messing around, trying to prove a point or trying to scare someone...The impromptu shortcuts never helped either. Good times!!

You and me both. It doesn't matter what other car I look at, I still keep coming back to them.
