So I just got a great deal on an FP Green and of course I now need a tune. I'm not sure I want to use any local pro tuners. I've got a Cobb AP, but I've been thinking of ditching it for an Enginuity tune and learning how to do the deal myself, though I don't want to destroy my engine either. Sooooooooo, would anybody be willing to tune my ride? Should I drive to P&L in Chicago? Of course I could pay for the job. Thanks.
Thats some serious UMF.....F. Do you have a 2.5? Green will require some serious exhaust! There are a few great tuners on board. Otherwise try DOMTune. I'm in the same situation and working with DOM Tune. Good luck! www.getadomtune.com
2.0, TXS TMIC, 660c - Anybody used DOM tune before? Should I add a GM BCS and a new BOV before the tune. Am I right in thinking that the stock BOV may not hold at higher boost and power?
i wouldnt run the stock BOV, it will start to recirc and it wont be able to handle it, i know a few people that attempted it
Yo LSE, if you openecued it, I could ditch my AP right? What do you reckon a tune on my setup would run me?
yeah, but he can sell the AP, and put the money towards whatever too, nothing wrong with 20psi on a Green on an OpenECU tune, serious power would be made, i think it could even satisfy his power hunger for a while.
Perrin has a dang nice "BOV" thats bullet proof, but its spendy. Greddy, Blitz, just stay away from the HKS and it wont be too loud
I think your stock MAP sensor has a limit around there, right? You could probably hook a different sensor up to the stock ECU but tuning it would be a PITA. The bigger problem is the 300 g/s MAF limit.
Well another club member just did a 20g on a 2.0l and he maxed out his maf pretty quick, so green will definitly max out the maf. Also he was getting full boost around the 47-4800 rpm mark with his 20g. The other thing is that your injectors *might* be able to handle the green. a 49lb wheel will moved alot of air so it would definitly be in your best interest to get some bigger injectors, a big maf of some sorts, and a 2.5l. I would guess that you will be hitting 20psi around 52-5300, but when it hits, it will hit hard. Russ
Get a big maf and a electronic boost controller with the money from selling the AP, then he can run more boooooostz0r??1?!!?
Yeah. Running 22psi would be fine on the green but those things really shine once you push them to like 25-26psi. If you are only intending to run ~20psi you would almost be better off with just a 20g. My old plan was to run an 8cm green at like a zillion psi on race gas all day long but things change I guess.
Nope. Get either a 70mm APS, 70mm Cobb or Perrin BigMAF intake. Have it installed at the dyno because your car will barely run with any of these installed with a stock maf calibration.
The 70mm APS is a bit ****tier that I was expecting. Much more MAF turbulence that I thought I'd get. Isn't Cobb supposed to be coming out with a 70mm CAI soon? I would imagine that theirs will have a very smooth and linear flow.
Ahh, see Andrew you asked about boost, not MAS flow. The wrx's pin at 300g/s like mentioned, only way around that is a big MAF. I remember someone was talking about modifying the code to accept 400g/s over on the openecu forums. Does anyone know if the prototyping is done for that yet? 20psi is plenty for a TMIC. I guess the fact that I do 3 back to back pulls makes me a pansy when it comes to tuning TMIC setups. If IAM drops, kc moves, torque drops, car richens/leans out, I adjust the tune so its consistant. Usually means a bit is left on the table, but you have to account for intercooler heatsoak.
It's been done for a while now. I've had an untested (thanks to Will for selling his car after like 3 days of ownership, lolz) prototype ROM for an '02 for quite some time. Not sure on any other model years, though.
Really? Anyway to send that Rom to me? I would be interested in giving it a crack and there are decent odds I could get to a car that would need it.
