The Iron Range Offroad Park will be opening it's gates to anyone with or without a registration sticker. This is to raise awareness for responsible offroading in MN, aswell as gauge interest in the new Virginia expansion.

This will not interest the vast majority of you guys, as a stock impreza/WRX won't be able to do anything but the core trails. But an Outback, or probably even Outback sport would be able to do some of the green trails without much difficulty. But this won't be a rally event, whipping donuts in the scramble area will not be tolerated!

anyone that wants to come can stay at my place the night before.

    who's coming? Austin? prodriver?

    bump to the top.

Sound like this might be a big event, with booths from the MN 4WD Association, and Tread Lightly. hopefully, if we can get the insurance coverage and permits from MN4WDA, and the state, we will be leading trail rides. and I've offered to lead some.

also, as I said at the meet tonight, anyone/everyone is more than welcome to crash at my place, it's only about an hour further north, and I've got lots of beds.

here's one of the tougher obsticles on one of my favorite green trails:

the poopenvagon while it was still morgan's on skull road, the liberty behind it blew out 2 sidewalls in this obstacle:

one of my favorite blue trails, the roving explorer (right after roller coaster....hehe), that 'big' rock turned a rear axle into scrap metal!

anyway, just thought I'd add a few pics that I'd taken out on the trail (there are more too....but that'd just be overkill) so you guys can see sort of what I'm talking about. also, keep in mind, the core trails are not even as difficult as the green one. but still have rocks as big, and a bit bigger as the one in the trail behind the hummer there, so most of your subarus won't be going up there without severe damage.

but, especially if my blue wagon's finished, I would be more than happy to take some people out on some tougher trails as passengers in my rig. so you can see what it's really like.

if you'd like to see more, here are some pics, and great videos that a guy (chevihemi) on the MN-Jeep site made of him in his S-10 and some of his buddies. http://www.chevihemi.com/zr2/index.html

hell yea, this would be the perfect opportunity to test that heep out ;) then come back and buy the registration sticker.....try before you buy!!

by the way, the registration sticker is $38.50, and is good for 3 years.

yes, you could probably get over that rock, assuming it's on perfectly level ground, the core trails....well....aren't

    ibyoucouldn'tevenwithyourswaybarsdisconnected

pictures are very deceptive, while it isn't a very steep hill, it's very uneven, I lift a wheel when going up it if I'm not careful of my line. and because of the turn at the bottom, you couldn't hit it with speed. a stock grand cherokee, or even liberty could do it just fine, and I might be able to get your imp up that hill, but only because I have quite a bit of offroad driving experience, including that trail numberous times. and probably not without damage.

Do you think our Chevy Trailblazer and or Chevy Silverado could handle that?

But first i'd have to talk my dad into doing it. Which is'nt likly lol

    Yep, very easily!

damage will be VERY minimal. I'm not going to tell you it isn't going to happen, cause it is to a few. but the worst will most likely be a little dent here/there, or maybe a flat tire. if you do come....bring a spare

Well, i just asked "dad, would you like to do some free off-roading?" His responce "no." The only off-roading our vehicles seem to do is going to hunting spots lol. My dad is good off-road, he just doesent like to risk it. if i had like a Nissan Pathfinder or somthing, i would go do it. I want to do it, but i dont think its gonna happen. Chevy Trailblazer=worse off-road than the Infiniti.

lol But thanks for the info. I will ask him later and show him the info.

the example that my buddy dave used in the legislation that we helped write was a honda CRV......you really gonna let a Honda out-wheel ya?!

lol, anyway, no risk needs to be taken. trail rides will be guided by those of us who live within an hour drive of the park and spend alot of time up there, we know our way around, we won't be taking you guys in places that will make you uncomfortable, or put you or your rig in excessive risk. and we'll be more than willing to let you ride with us on more difficult trails.

w00t!! haha. this weekend was awesome!! I can honestly say that I've never enjoyed a trip up there this much. We got a bunch of video, but most of it doesn't do the trails justice. but I'll edit it together and let you guys see it....
