I finally got my last one pulled last night. D*mn it hurt when the dentist was working at it, and its still bleeding too. It was growing against my molars, so I had to have it pulled.

All better. Bleeding... but better. :)

The dentist just squeezed a bit of novacaine (sp?) around the tooth. I felt the whole thing: he used a flathead screwdriver-like tool to jam in between the two teeth and twisted and turned until one broke. (Ohhh, the pain...) I'm glad it was the wisdom tooth that broke.

I would have punched him in the head for that! Sounds like you need a new dentist!

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">Matt, I was just under-exagerating. I really don't have any problems with my dentist. He gave me a good amount of novacaine in the gum area and the jaw area. Unfortunately for me and everyone else getting something pulled, novacaine doesn't seem like it's doing it's job when your bone is being yanked out.

Wisdom teeth are wierd bones. This last one didn't mature until this year. It was one big tooth after it was pulled out; half of my gums didn't get out of the way yet. The dentist had to push it aside to pull it out. [xx(]

What's the worst that can happen from leaving the wisdom teeth in? Crooked ass teeth? Already have that, lol.

Leaving you wisdom teeth is nothing beneficial. I'll compile a list I just made up.

-You don't really use them to grind your food.
-They get food stuck in their gap often.
-They are hard to reach, brush, and floss.
-They are usually the first to decay and cause tooth pain.
    -They grow in wierd angles/places.
-They don't get you any quarters under your pillow.
-They don't allow your dentist any chance to give you maximum pain.
-They don't make you happy or sad (for now).

I had all 4 pulled that morning, i was fine on new years eve, didnt do much drinking, but man those vicatins were nice.

That's what I thought; untill recently.... :( For a few years they were fine but now they are really bothering me. They get infected easily, the lower ones are compacted and food gets stuck in the gaps every time I eat ANYthing, and the top ones are at a slight angle so its VERY easy to bite the inside of my cheek. Biting the inside of your cheek with a dirty wisdom tooth is the worst! It swells up instantly and hurts for days :(! Now that its swolen its even easier to bite it again!

They really should come out ;)

Make sure the dentist prescribes for you some pain medication and hands you lots of gauze right after. You'll get used to the taste of blood.

Lets see, applesauce, pudding, mac and cheese, basically anything you can swallow without chewing. It took me about 2 weeks to get back to normal. One other thing about not getting them pulled, the nerves for your whole jaw run inside the bone right below the wisdom tooth. If that tooth becomes infected, you can loose all the feeling in your jaw. thats the one that got me.

OUCH! good to hear you're doing ok. My wife is getting the rest of her 3 wisDUMB tooth pull on March 25th. Her first one was pulled out a couple of years ago.

I'm glad I haven't gone through it, nor do I wish to. Happy happy joy joy! :D

Don't let all the horror stories get to her! It's not that bad really. So many ppl either said "you wussy I was back to work that day/the next day" and the rest were "OMG I was laied up for 2 WEEKS!" Stock up on soup, apple sauce, pudding mix, and such.

Mine really didnt HAVE to go but man was I sick of them! THey were constantly under a mild infection (always tender gums around there, slightly red) Food would get packed in around them making brushing more frequent and longer. A slip of the jaw and the top ones would chew my cheek bad! I'm glad they are gone!

Oh and dont let the oral surgeion prescribe these wussy pain pills i got! Man did I get ripped off.... flubiprophen? It's like ibuprophen's nerdy older brother! Vicodin 2 win and dont take NO for an answer! :D

Vicodin is the one! I still get food stuck in the pulled out wisdom tooth socket from time to time.
