Up until you shoot it the first time, and need to find a replacement for where your shoulder used to be.
^ if fired one a bunch of times, and didn't find it that bad. Really i think a standard 30-ought is worse. on the other hand, setting a scope for 2/3 mile out is a little time consuming...
That pic brings back some good memories. :emo: You guys have a range around here that you can shoot on?
he said he shot it from his shoulder and barely felt it..there are 4 springs inside that absorb the recoil... he said he shot it at his dad's over the weekend it went through a tree that was about a foot round.. straight through and out the back...
wow. I guess with the size of the round and the fact its a government funded design, it would be a very smooth gun to shoot many times. I did however see my uncle (maple grove cop of 15 years) sprain his wrist shooting a 50 cal. desert eagle, after about 10 rounds.
The Barrett was actually designed and built by an air conditioner mechanic/gun nut out of his trailer home/workshop. The military needed a rifle that would penatrate concrete walls in Beruit. The gun was tested and fielded to troops in 6 months, which is a record for any US military weapon.
holy how the hell did u get a hold of one of those... snaps that thing is dangious man hahahahahaha lucky bastard... now people should noe better not to **** with you and ur car hahahahha
I think it's more because of the weird flash suppressor / compensator design than the stock, but the bolt-action .50cal sniper rifles don't really "kick" at all, it's more of a PUSH. But the sound alone will make you pee your pants if you're standing next to it when it's fired. If anybody wants to try one (or one of any number of select-fire machineguns), check out the annual machine gun show in Princeton. It's $10 to get in and then you just pay the exhibitors for the ammo you use. http://www.tankride.com/Machine_Gun_Shoot.html (One year they even had a Browning M2 you could fire for $2.50 a round. Whee!)
that will probably be his next gun... ha ha ha he has an AK-47 replica not sure what model but it takes 1 spring to be removed to b efull auto and you wouldnt know that it wasnt one... he has a couple of other guns... one is a m-60 i believe (maybe replica), and alsoa copy of the Australian full auto military spec gun... plus an assortment of handguns... most people who were at the dyno pull day would have seen him....
Holy Shiet! Nate is he going sniping for dinosaurs???sweet a$$ .50cal bro i miss mine in the army....
Nate, you're lookin' way to happy about rapping your fingers around someone else's big unit!! Have you converted to Fong-dumentals!? Anyone else see that ear to ear grin??
that was funny Josh... now get your arse to the ice race... I got you in my sights.... that 50cal is good for at least 2miles...
hahaha....I'm still working on it....but even if there is no space in the rooms, I have a couple of friends that would like to come be spectators of many slideways subies!!!!!!:yumyum: They said they would be down to throw in on a hotel room w/me!!
wow you must be looser then FOng... ha haha well you better get your arse up there... 10am Friday morning...
It's design was also brilliant as it can be "rapid fired" sniper rifle. "Rapid fired" meaning much more quickly than a bolt action which would normally have less kick. Not to be confused with a rapid fire of a hand gun etc. The Barrett was designed to absorb as much recoil as possible allowing the sniper to fire again quickly.
In my career field in the Air Force we are actually issued Barretts. Although we use it as a tool and not for sniping people as weird as that may sound. There is actually a technique where you can shoot fuses on bombs with it as a means of rendering it safe. I have shot it a few times, but recently I got to shoot the M249 and M240 machine guns. Now that is some fun stuff, I would really like to shoot the Mk19 if I ever get a chance which is an automatic 40mm grenade launcher.
Yeah i've shot the M-249 SAW and an M-240G they're pretty fun but the Mk-19 is much more fun. You just pull the trigger and hear a wump wump wump then a few seconds of a silence then wump wump wump as the rounds impact. But yeah the maw deuce (M-2) is also a fun gun to shoot especially a dual .50 cal off a ship that was a blast still have all the shell casings from it too.
It also fires very rapidly when the bolt catch sears off and the gun shoots uncontrolably untill the magazine empties!
