Friends of Fong Donation Fund $795 So Far!!!!

    Saturday, October 1st is the last day we will be taking donations!
    Justin and I will be at Firestone taking donations again on Friday and Saturday.
    -THE RUNNING TALLY-

    Ok people. As many of you may or may not already know, Fong's mother may not make it through the night. I ask that you keep him and his family in your prayers.
    But for those of you that have read the thread in OffTopic regarding this may know, Fong will be sporting the bill for the funeral fees and burial costs. This brings about a tough situation for him as it means he may have to sell his car among other things.
    So I and some of the other MNSubaru guys decided we should help one of our own. As a community, the Subaru 'family' is always very tight and we are all pretty much like family (while rather dysfunctional at times). And when family needs help, you help them.

    We are looking to raise money to help Fong offset the costs of burial and funeral fees by taking donations. It isn't often that this happens, but we all felt that it was in order. You can give whatever you can afford, there is no set amount required. Rest assured, all money will go directly to Fong in the form of bank checks.

    IMPORTANT NOTE:

    I NEED YOU GUYS TO SEND ME AN EMAIL WITH YOUR NAMES, ADDRESSES, AND HOW MUCH YOU ARE GIVING. FONG HAS REQUESTED THIS. AND PERSONALLY, FOR LEGAL REASONS, I THINK GOOD BOOKKEEPING IS IN ORDER HERE. MY EMAIL IS [email protected].

    ALSO! FOR THOSE OF YOU RELUCTANT TO DONATE VIA PAYPAL BECAUSE OF PAYPAL'S FEES...I WILL BE PAYING FOR THE FEES FOR YOU...SO DONATE WITH CONFIDANCE...YOUR ENTIRE DONATION WILL BE GIVEN!!!
    We offer you one of two options:

    1) Paypal
    You can make donations to Paypal through [email protected]. Be sure to indicate in the description that you are donating to Fong.

    2) Cash or Check
    You can also make donations this way. I will be at Firestone on Friday to take collections, and Justin can pick up the rest on Saturday. If you have checks, make them payable to Fong Vang. All cash collected will be transferred to my bank account and converted to a check so we can avoid dumping a bunch of fives, ones and 10s on the guy. And we all know, cash burns the pockets quickly, but a check in teh bank tends to last a while. ;)

    I know it seems a bit rushed, but obviously, time is a factor here as he will be paying for these things VERY soon. Give what you can to help a brother in need.

    I don't know what to say, guys. :cry: Jason, I am very very happy you're organizing a donation fund for my mom's funeral. My brother is also very happy you and the other members are so concerned for us. I will make my GF cook something nice, like eggrolls, for the club at Firestone when we get back. That's the least my GF and I could do for your efforts. Thank you!

    Update: Guys... read Fong's last post. his mom is pulling through. They didn't pull the plug due to confrontation between family members. That's great news and may God speed her recovery.

    I called Fong last night and spoke with him briefly to see how he's doing. He's holding up and wanted to thank everyone on the board for their support.

    Fong's on his way to Cali this morning. His family is preparing for the worst so lets keep them in our thoughts and prayer.

    He'll call me when he gets to Cali with more details. I'll post if I hear anything else.

    I just wanted to let all of you know... wheather it's financially or through comforting words of support, your kind gesture is greatly appreciated.

    Update! 9/25/05 10:54PM CST

    I just got off the phone with Fong a minute ago. Fong's mother has passed away earlier today after she was taken off life support.

    Let’s keep Fong and his family in our thoughts and prayer. Fong will not be able to post for the coming week and had asked that I post this for him:

    Fong: I wanted to thank everyone for their kind gesture and generosity. I can not thank you all enough. We will have a get together when I get back. Hope to talk with all of you soon.

    FYI: The funeral will be held this coming Saturday (10/1) and burial will be on Monday (10/3).

    UPDATE!

    I just got off the phone with Fong awhile ago and there's been a change of plan for his mother's funeral.

    Fong found out that in Catholic tradition, the burial must take place on Friday instead of Monday. Now the funeral will be held tomorrow and burial is on Friday (9/30) per Catholic religion.

    Fong had mention to his father about the well wishes and donation headed by Jason and Justin from the group. Fong's father wanted to thank everyone here for their generosity and well wishes.

    Fong and his family is doing well and hanging in there. He will be back in Minnesota late this Monday (10/3).

There's no quota to meet and it’s not regulated by the board. This fund is organized by the individual party and there is no legal bind between the board and the members who contribute.     I left a VM for Vic but didn't get a response yet.

    I've decided with my brother, Kao, that 100% of this donation will go to buy groceries to help the Vang family out as we adjust to the additional loans we now owe.
