    Hey guys -

The front license plate screws were apparently spun in place by the dealership when they mounted my plates. I've found my front plate to be loose, and after taking the dealer's frame off, the plate stays on, but the screws back themselves out over time. What sort of solutions have you guys had success with when fixing this sort of thing? What do you suggest I fill the holes with to sink the screws in again? Thanks!

You could use a nut and bolt. You might have to pull the bumper off to hold the nut in place.

Oh, I didn't think of that... Good idea. Was hoping to keep using the screws but I'll keep that option in mind as well.

Second using a nut, bolt, and washer. Alternatively a larger self tapping screw or you might be able to sink a screw anchor in there. One of those tab anchors if the bumper material isn't thick enough to support a screw anchor.

On my GC8 RS, I took a piece of 1" x 1/8" aluminum, drilled and threaded holes at the appropriate locations, and then drilled two more 1/8th" holes to rivet the aluminum to the backside of the bumper cover. Then I just bolted the license place to the aluminum, through the cover.

I had these on my previous car. Totsubo license plate bracket. Kind of spendy for what they are, but effective.

This time around I lasercut a bracket from acrylic, similar idea to above but made it one piece.
I attached it to the existing JDM holes via some kind of expanding drywall anchor, countersunk those, tapped holes for US plate screws.

Would be cool to do it out of aluminum but I can't cut that with the laser and don't have access to any other CNC toys.

One of our machinist/fab members should make some Totsubo knock offs. I bet they could sell a ton of them online if they were cheap enough.

Thanks for the ideas, guys! I'll find one that works. I just wish the dealer hadn't done this from the start.
