I'm selling my 2002 WRX with a full 2005 STI swap because I am getting stationed in Okinawa, Japan for the next few years. I'm not in a huge hurry to sell it, but I will consider all serious offers. The swap was done a October of 2010. The STI was involved in a single car rollover. At the time of purchase the odometer read 76,000 miles. I have all the paperwork from this purchase. Even a carfax report. I think I caught everything. If I missed something or anything is unclear let me know. All STI parts came from the same donor car. Pros: Since the swap was completed this car has been trailered to Virginia, drove back and drove multiple times to Ft Leonardwood, MO and back to Minnesota. It is in sound mechanical condition. No fluid leaks. Mechanically in great shape. Body and interior are in good shape. DCCD works, HVAC system works, Runs great! Cons: A/C doesn't work, but everything is installed. I never fixed it because I thought I might remove it completely. Horn doesn't work No rear diff temp sensor (lights up on dash) Airbag light is on. In my limited spare time I'll try to track that down too. Paint job on the hood doesn't match the best. But goes unnoticed to most. Last winter I hit the ditch pretty hard, replaced front bumper and pass side axle. Thanks! Yup, Ft Leonardwood for two more weeks. Just been here for MP school, then it's off to Okinawa!
Well enjoy the active side of life! I went to Lost in the woods, Misery for the good ol' 88m training, what a bore.
Holy crap man you're selling the car?! That was a good build, I'm sure whoever buys it will be happy. Also can't believe you're going to Okinawa, I didn't even know we had stations on that island, that was one of the worst battles in WW2. I'm sure it'll be crazy to be there. Good luck with everything!
Thanks! Yup! Ben was a huge help on this swap and he'll be taking care of it after I leave if it doesn't sell right away. Yea, thanks! It's a sad day, but I can't justify letting it sit in my garage for 3 years. And yes, there has been a major US presence on Okinawa since WWII. Alot of Marines like myself but every other branch too (except Coast Guard).
HAH, I knew it. Just FYI you guys, My friend ben who put this car together worked on mine to get back together, you should be in good hands if you buy this beast
damn! only if you would trade for my stock 02 bugeye, i'll give you an extra $4k, but i see you'll in good hands finding a sti in Japan, they got the best **** there. I test drove some of their Subarus there when my Ship stopped there, Gunnersmate 3rd class USS Stethem DDG-63, You'll love it there, take that Sti to the Club scene! 2 for 1 me lov u long time
Beautiful car and a great price! If this wasn't silver, I would own another Subaru..can't do another silver Subie. This should move fairly quick. GL
Had a dead photo link for the swap. Here is a working one: http://s999.photobucket.com/albums/af113/psychorunner/05 STi into 02 WRX Swap/
Nice looking car! Just a thought while reading the link, a possible solution to the dead horn and airbag light being on. The clock spring assembly was installed improperly, and broke. It is one part that they both share wiring through. Anyway GLWS!!
Yea, I have been suspect of the clock spring, honestly just never got around to it. Anyone have an extra clock spring from an '05 sitting around?
