I tried. The dealer said the warranty wouldn't cover the syncro if that what it was then I'd be stuck with the charge of pulling the tranny apart to find the cause.
recommend you push back on the dealer, threaten to talk to SOA why is the dealership telling you the synchro isn't covered?...
I'm tempted to buy it and rip into the dealer myself. I would grab all accounts and stories on the interweb where the Synchro was replaced by other dealers.
Nice '05, my old '02 wrx had a grind in fourth gear if I shifted fast at higher rpms, I was just a little more careful with fourth gear once I noticed it and I put another 30,000 miles on it with no change/worsening of the grind...I can't speak for other people, but that's just my two cents, GOOD luck with the sale!
