me take as in I buy now...not thinking about it, lol. If I didn't want them, I wouldn't post.;)

Your selling skills seem lacking, lol.

Figure out who has priority and get things sorted. You can't just say give me money and have 10 people give you $300 each. :p

You saying "still for sale" = the last guy who said they'd take them talked to you and said they'd pass on the sale...which didn't happen. You piss off people doing this.

Generally when people say I'll take them, it's not "I'm thinking about it." People will generally not pay right this instant, and you'll piss a lot of people off doing a "whoever deposits money first" sort of thing when people already said they'd take them.

Whoever wanted them first, buy them. If not, move to the next person. If I reach the top, I'll take them. I won't deposit anything until I know they're mine, otherwise, we get this lovely mess of a lot of people giving you money and expecting tires and that ain't fun. Read through the thread, run down each person that showed interest and ask for a deposit. They either want and pay or are not sure and won't. Then ask the next person. You're just throwing yourself into the lion's pit the way you're doing it now. If and when I'm at the top of the list, I'll send the deposit. If someone else is above me and pays, so be it. You need to define the order and work through this in an orderly fashion.

"me take" denotes nothing, also "consider them sold" means nothing to me, I have a ton of emails from craigslist too, but no payers yet. I was just replying to the previous post, not everyone......

with that in mind, whoever wants them, pm me and I will give you my paypal address----- no slackers, no maybe this weekend, 1st $$$$ gets the wheels... its a good deal.

Well, wait till 9PM for blu. If he wants them, he gets them.

I would expect full payment. Deposits = holds = long term wait.

I've bought and sold a lot of stuff too. I know the game, and I know that a MASSIVE amount of people show interest with little or no commitment. I understand where you're coming from. However, you have to set up a reasonable process that everyone can follow and that is fair. You can't just go by who diposits money first. The problem is not everyone hovers around this board nor follows threads by the minute. Some can say "I'll take them," actually want them and will pay within the next 24hrs, but you ignore them because they don't pay instantly. When they come here tomorrow and see someone jumped in front of them and and bought the tires, they'd get kind of pissed, wouldn't they?

The best approach I found is
-people show interest in the product.
-make a list of those people in order of contact
-talk to each one of these people individually and define a process for purchase. This can include a "hold" type of deposit or a need for full payment within 24hr or by the end of the day or whatever. You define the process.
-The first person agrees and completes the process, the product is sold.
-The first person doesn't agree with the process or fails to complete the process, the item remains for sale and moves to the next person in the list.
-This is repeated till the product sells.

Everyone gets a fair shot at the product in the order of interest, but the product is sold as you like by your own definition. There is no confusion and the process is smooth and quick. It also weeds out the people who don't really want to buy the product and simply are casually considering it. You give them that time frame and demand. It's either satisfied, or you move on. Simple. Functional.

Right now, I consider blu ahead of me. He should be aware of the process and given a chance to purchase. I don't know what your needs are, so I can't comment on how you decide to approach your process. Maybe you need money within the next 24hr for something. That type of need defines an expedited process. That's up to you to decide and define.

I am at a 100% purchase, full amount, right now level. However, if someone else has first rights, I won't overstep their social right.

    Ah.

Well, I'll put it this way. jacbri has the right to decide who to sell to and why. It is past 9PM, so I'll gladly buy the tires from you.

If curly or blu feel this is unfair, I will give you the tires for the price I pay jacbri. This gets the wheels and tires off your hands jacbri, and if anyone feels pissed or jyped by the deal, I can correct that at a later time that doesn't trouble you and your moving plans. I would prefer to keep them as I do need a winter set, but I prefer fairness.

PM me your paypal address and the sum total I should give you, and I'll pay that straight away.

this went down like ****. at 8 he gave me an hour, when at 7 I asked for his paypal. I would of paid in full, I was just trying to show seriousness without all the extra charge of 3%. I left my house at 710 and was not home till now. in that time he pmed me again with no paypal address.

His follow up and ability to sell sucks!! I will NEVER consider buying anything from him again. how are we supposed to pay if he does not tell us where to pay to? how are we supposed to pay if he only gives an hour to do so???

This thread is a major fail!!

I guess it was your call, jacbri, but it was kindof a douche move. Bill says he'll pay you for them, send him the Paypal address, then an hour later you are listing them as still for sale. The "first to deposit" thing doesn't work. And I will be pushing the mods to make a rule about doing that, since it sets up buyers to get screwed by someone looking to get quick paid and then disappear. Consider this the last time you pull that stunt here.

Good on you, BRR for offering to sell them to Curly for the price paid to rectify drama. That is a cool thing to do. Props to you for that.

Truth, it was a crappy move. And it his how alot of forum for sale scams have gone down in the past. First to Paypal never works, and should be flat out banned here.

Alot of Forums don't let you sell till you have enough posts, how come this place isn't like that? Read through the posts in this thread and it makes me kinda feel bad for Chris/Bill for trying to help out.

You sell, you learn. Not everyone has good sales skills or the desire or time to spend the effort. I understand jacbri doesn't want to go through the hassle of a timely, structured process. Not everyone does or can. Everyone has other things in their lives going on.

Most of what I've sold in the past has been casual sales. I've even held onto things for over a year until an actual sale. I give the buyers the benefit of the doubt, but I also understand the very abundant "I'll buy this from you right now" kind of interest that fizzles out. I'd say most of what I've sold has had about a dozen of these types of people. Days, weeks go by and they never commit or some "unforeseen" thing happens that prevents them from purchase. In the mean time, a couple of the other people waiting to buy it moves on and buys something else. You end up losing your main commitment plus a couple others.

At some point, you just say screw it and simply take whoever pays first. I try to avoid that route if at all possible though. The only way that would work well would be if it was declared at the beginning of the sale that it was a first come first serve kind of setup with zero "dibs." Then it would be known and fair to all parties. The rules are defined.

This was up to curly (chris). I gave him the choice to have them. He graciously side-stepped and accepted my purchase. I thank him for that, because frrank, this is a great deal, that and I do need new winters.

Selling (and buying) is a social skill. It's learned, and etiquet is gained through practice. For jacbri, this is a learning experience. He sees how others have addressed his methods, and he can take that into consideration with any future sales.

FWIW, and in his defense, I was first on his list. He PM'd me right away and gave me his paypal address, and posted them as "Sold". Halfway through the payment process, I found my wife had some "unexpected expenses" and I could not follow through right away like I said I would. My fault, and I'm sorry I laid out a false claim. Too bad...I was sincere when I said I would take htem and I needed them. After that, I don't know, but I felt I was treated fairly. Like I said, FWIW.
