I would have taken the sub from you. You shouldn't have cut the wires you just unplug the two plugs that are connected to the harness then plug the remaining two in the car back together.

yes it goes under the seat it is 8inches and if you look on ebay they range anywhere from 100-200 plus shipping. I do not know of any factory Subaru sub that doesn't go under the seat. This install is very simple all you need is a wrench to loosen your bolt and a scredriver to take the headunit out. It is all plug and play.
