I am putting my 1998 Subaru 2.5 RS up for sale. If you've been to Headwaters, Ojibwe, or Lake Superior rallies in the last few years you've seen it doing lead car duties. The car has never suffered a mechanical failure preventing it from completing a rally. VIN: JF1GM6757WG402739 123k miles on the odometer. It's been well maintained, but is not a show car. Factory details include gold 16x6.5 wheels, and WRC championship badge on left front fender. The oil's been changed with Mobil1 *at least* before each rally it has been to, and every 3000 miles in the "off" season. I have always used Subaru oil filters and seal rings. Plugs, wires, fuel filter and windshield have all been changed since I purchased the car. Brakes were done prior to Headwaters 2006 with new disks and pads. Goodridge stainless brake lines were added when new struts were installed in 2004. STi motor and Transmission mounts installed in 2002. The clutch has been replaced with an ACT pressure plate and Subaru disk. Struts are the SPD (KYB AGX) adjustable units. I just had Morrie's Brooklyn Park Subaru replace the rubber Hydraulic pipe for the clutch, one of the fittings was leaking. Rally specific additions includes 3/8 inch Aluminum skid plate, Hella Rallye 4000 lighting, custom mud flaps, TerraTrip 303plus, and wiring for ham radio. The lighting and computer can be taken out if you don't want them I am asking $6500 (At that price I have to keep the TerraTrip) If you want a rock-solid Subaru, if you want to take the next step in working rallies, the car is the perfect platform! crap. that is beautifull. i swear if i hadn't just dropped 5 large into my sti i would have driven out and picked it up today.
you're the original owner? I may be interested in coming out and taking a look... are you negotiable on the price?
I am not the original Owner, though I have met him. I bought this car through Scott Putnam when he was still at Morrie's. The corner markers are not JDM. Shane (the Original Owner) did a nice job of modding the factory ones, though I just noticed this morning that the right one has a small crack now... :-( The rims stay with the car (at least until I don't own it anymore) The engine is stock (Phase1), the Driver side head gasket has been replaced (by Morrie's BP Subaru) $6500 is as low as I can go, sorry.

I would NEVER be scared of a car that JB has owned or worked on. He was my crew chief for two years and we won national rally championships each of those years. I can say that in all the good ways, JB is one of the most anal guys I know. His attention to detail is without question. He is also keenly aware when he is not FULLY qualified for a particular repair. That is why he had a dealership replace the head gasket that failed. He wanted to make sure the repair was done as perfectly as possible. I don't mean to gush but you would have nothing to worry about with JB or his vehicles. His methods and integrity are first rate.
^But if it's rallied, doesn't that = driven hard? I'm interested, but the miles/rally kind of scare me. Edit: And what's the "terratrip"?
Driven hard is a relative term. JB drove the car and used what it was capable of. I don't think he has it in him to abuse the car. He is a good technical driver but not all that agressive. Also, he has never competed at a stage rally in this car. He has worked stage rally as one of the lead cars which is at a lower pace. RallyCross and Road Rally put no more stress on a car than you would in spirted driving on a gravel road. The Terratrip is a very accurate odometer that can be recalibrated to reflect changes in tire size and other factors. An accurate odometer that reads hundreths of a mile is required to work lead car at a stage rally.
^Sucks. I was actually considering it..... It's got a few extra miles but it's about 2000-3000 less than the other one's I've looked at.
