The only reason i've decided to sell it, is that i've decided to build a new high-end hackintosh machine, for work use. I'm getting to a point where i need windows and mac, and can't do that with this rig. i bought this computer brand new from apple, and paid $3400 for it as a BTO with a better hard drive and graphics card. Since then, i've added more ram as i've needed it up to the current 3.5GB. it will support a maximum of 8GB if you fill all the slots, but since moving to 3.5, i really haven't filled it with the exception of heavy photoshop work with large files. When i upgraded to the Apple 30" HD Cinema display, i needed a better graphics card to drive it. that's where the 6800 Ultra came in. This little puppy can play Quake 3 Arena smoothly at 2560x1600, and it's gorgeous doing it. it's an Apple OEM model card to, no hacked, flashed, POS here. that little puppy cost me $599. Ouch. but worth it. since mac os 10.4, all the little finder pops, and bounces, and cute little animations have been offloaded to the graphics card, so no matter what your doing with the processor, everything opens and animates smoothy, even on the latest 10.5.8 that this equipment can run. I upgraded the DVD burner (Superdrive) in it to a later model Apple OEM that includes the ability to burn Dual Layer DVDs, and regular DVDs Faster. Finally, i added a 2nd, 7200RPM 500GB Hard drive for working with video encoding and editing. The only problem i've ever had with this machine, was February, the power supply failed. this was a blessing in disguise. i was able to acquire the newer version of the power supply that was used in later DP G5s. it's quieter, and has 600w of power to dish out. there are still dozens of good uses for this machine. Video Editing, Photo editing, file server, heavy load web server, database server. this is a pro level machine, and it's reliability is of the level expected of a machine in that environment. This machine will come with everything listed above, and a power cord. no monitor, keyboard, or mouse. the case is in very good condition, with the exception of some superficial scratches on the finish on the left hand side panel from a move. no dents or gouges. they're not visible from the front. I will personally clean the inside and outside before delivery. The drives will be wiped, and i will reinstall Mac OS X 10.5.8 fully updated, and include an install dvd. other software may be available. for an additional fee, i will deliver, install, and make sure it is functioning on your internet connection, as long as you have/will acquire before delivery the monitor, keyboard, and mouse needed for basic operation. Price is OBO. For more information on this computer: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/stats/powermac_g5_2.0_dp.html Click Pix for WTFHUEG versions.
New dells are really nice, microcenter has really good deals on LCDs. I've been out of the monitor game for a while here, as i've got my big bad-ass and haven't needed to buy a new one in about 4 years.. this thing is still nearly top of the line.
PMs replied. FYI, i'm not interested in trades right now, as i'm building a new computer, and need the cash to get that done. Unless you happen to have an i7 920 and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 Core216 you want to part with... then i'd say i'd be interested.
