    SOLD!!!

I'm selling my old laptop. It's a Dell Inspiron 8500. I've outgrown this computer, and moved up to a more powerful one. When I purchased the computer it was at the tip top of the market, and because of that, it's still comparable to many new machines on the market. I'm asking $500. This machine was over $3000 when it was new, so it's a heck of a steal.

    Specs are:

    -Pentium 4m 2.6GHz Processor
    -512MB RAM (266MHz)
    -NVIDIA GeForce4 4200 Video Card (64MB)
    -60GB Hard Drive
    -DVD-ROM/CD-RW
    -15.4" Widescreen display (1680x1050)
    -Built in WiFi (802.11b/g)
    -Built in Bluetooth Radio
-Floppy Drive (swaps out with the CD/DVD in the modular bay)
-1 Serial Port, 1 VGA Out, 1 parallel Port, 1 Modem port, 1 Network port, 2 USB ports, 1 Fire wire port, 1 PCMCIA Port, 1 Infrared transmitter, 1 Mic port, 1 Speaker port

The computer is in perfect working condition. The Hard Drive was formatted when I decided to sell it, and it has been fully restored to a base line configuration. It has Windows XP Pro SP2 installed, and fully updated with all of the most recent updates. All devices have the most up to date drivers, and the machine has been updated with the most recent BIOS version.

I have also preloaded a number of software titles onto the system. This includes iTunes (NOT set as the default player), AIM, Yahoo IM, Roxio Easy CD Creator, Norton Antivirus 2003. I have also preloaded a copy of Microsoft Office XP with FrontPage, but the discs will not be included.
The largest software title that will be included is a copy (With CD's) of DeLORME Street Atlas 2005. It's a great mapping program, and if you buy a GPS receiver, the laptop will become a great GPS system. (this is an $80 program) The computer will also come with a Dell carrying case.

The computer has had a few issues, which have all been fixed. It just went out of the extended warranty, but was sent in right before to have the few small issues worked out. The case had developed a few stress cracks after 3 years of use, and the switch that made the machine go into standby had broken. In the service, DELL replaced most of the casing, and replaced the whole motherboard with a new one to fix the switch problem. (seems they don't actually fix things anymore, just replace). The result is a machine that looks brand new, and is functioning better than new.

It will also include two batteries. One is quite near the end of it's life, and the other has about 1.5-2 hours of life while sitting on the desktop.

On the third picture, the paint that's scraped off the Memory access cover is only cosmetic, and the cover plate is in no way damaged.

It's not a really a multimedia oriented machine, as it doesn't have Windows Media Center Edition, a TV tuner, or TV outputs. It's more of whats called a "Desktop Replacement." Which means that it's more tuned to be a workhorse of a machine, and not quite so much of a carry around everywhere with you machine. It doesn't have any media outputs besides the normal VGA output (The output for an external monitor). It's fully capeable of handling all sorts of media, from DVD's to Music, to most video editing (Read, anything below hardcore animation and Adobe After Effects).

The video card is a few generations behind. It'll run most games well, but it does have problems with the new super-graphics intensive games.

Speed wise, they're using different processors now that use a different speed rating, but it's pretty well on par with the laptops that run right around the $1000 mark at the big box stores at the moment.
