This motor has been sold 3 different times on this site alone, and every time the person has backed out at the last minute. Just tired of the dibs crap. Russ
would you be willing to sell just the block? how many miles on the parts just for the general public's knowledge.
Sorry, nope on the block alone. It just needs pistons and bearings and a slight cleanup and it is ready to go. As for miles, less than 5k. Russ
Yes, those are sti rods. The block was split so I could start the rebuild process and I have jut run out of time. I would rather it go to someone looking to build a motor than turn into a lump of rust in my garage. Russ
BTW, to anyone interested in this, I have some stock STi pistons that I will donate to the purchaser. I want to see this gone, and I'm tired of seeing Russ get stiffed by a bunch of retard wannabe buyers. So, for 600 bucks, you get an STi short block, with all the bolts to assemble it, plus a crank and rods. AND a set of unused STi stock pistons to put in it. I'll have to see if I still have the wrist pins and retainer clips for those pistons, but eitherway, you are getting nearly a full block for less than a third of the cost of a new block.
Not wanting to say anything that commits me to ban land... For the non-builders or first time builders - What else would it take to get this to the "drop in" state?
You'll want to ask Russ what is already in there. If it were me, I'd get: New crank and rod bearings Pistons and piston rings, wrist pins and wristpin clips A bottle of RTV for engine assembly from Morries MTKA parts A full engine rebuild gasket kit (you will need this for any short block) If you have a 2.0L WRX, you can simply use your heads. No need for cams or anything like that as the full WRX head assembly would work fine.
Just think of it as a bare block with crank and rods. I would clean up the block (hot tank), and hone the walls so the rings have a good clean/new surface to seat in on. Then it would just be new bearings (crank and rod), and the short block would be good to go. From there it would be like any other swap, gaskets, oil pump, water pump, etc... Russ
If you still have this in about a month I would love to buy this from you. I have to wait till I get some steady work going, which starts next week. Would I need a new ecu too?
