I bought this block of Nasioc for my GC8 build, it had 37k on it and the piston cracked, causing light scoring on the block. I bought this block knowing full well that I wanted to punch it out to 100mm. However, when I bought the block I was told it was coming with all the idlers and misc stuff a "complete shortblock" should, when it showed up, it was basically bare. I've had the block checked out by 2 different shops and they said the punch out to 100mm would be more than enough with oversized pistons, other than that, the block is in pretty great shape. I really just don't want to spend months tracking down misc. crap to get the block ready for the build to put in the GC, however, for someone looking to go 2.5 in their current car, this would be a GREAT base for a build. I am not looking to make anything on this, I'm actually willing to sell it for a loss, so I can put money towards snagging a more complete block and getting someone else off to the races locally. I bought the "complete shortblock" for $630, and then spent $150 on shipping, bringing the grand total to $780 on this block. I'm hoping to get back most of what I spent on the block itself, as it would really be a good start for someone looking to punch it out for a 2.5 hybrid build. Looking to get $500 for the block as it sits. I can take pictures of it tomorrow when its light out, so if you want any specific pictures now, ask for them. I'm fairly firm on the price, as I know I can get more than that on Nasioc for it, I just really don't have the time or desire to deal with shipping. I can also pass along the contact info for the guy who I was going to have punch it out (MORE than reasonable in price). crank, rods, and 3 cylinders are like new, then theres the shattered piston. $500, flat cost, straight cash, no mishmash or BS. buy this, Fobia's pistons, and be on your merry way. Chris
You should just buy my swap then have it refreshed and have a complete JDM swap with a WRX ecu for tuning purposes.
I have a swap that I'm already going to "refresh" and just put in my wagon, I wanted to do a hybrid build for my GC8 since I already have the JDM set up to put in the wagon if it doesn't sell.
This post made me finally make an account. How deep are the scratches? Also pictures sent to [email protected] would be spectacular. And roughly how much will your contact charge for machining and where is he located? Thanks.
it was checked out by another machinist and it was going to be on boarderline if it was going to be all good due to a crack that was hidden before it was torn down, safest bet would be to replace the cylinder. The block (mainly for the crank and rods) is currently pending however.
As in have it completely replaced? How would you go about doing that and how much would your machinist charge? I'm looking to get a rough estimate on price. As far as having it sold, just keep me updated.
Theres a shop here in the cities that can do it, and they said it wasn't too bad as far as price...but the guy I was meant to talk to specifically was out on lunch so I could get a better quote for price and timeline. Steve (owner of Headwerks) said their pricing is incredibly reasonable for resleeving, but as I stated, I never called back and got the more definitive quote.
