What is something like this worth? It would be fun to play with or maybe put in the new house when we build but figure it is out of my price range.

The fiber is cheap compared to what you are going to pay for someone to come in and terminate all your connections in your house if you plan on using it in multiple rooms. Copper is a much better option for home owners unless you have special needs because of EM.

    MSRP is like 550

You would want to run RG6 coax and cat5e in your home...fiber is pretty much useless in your house

Yeah fiber is great for getting info (cable, internet, etc.) to your home over long distances, but its a waste of time inside your home where there isn't much distance for it to travel anyway...

Yea but I am going to have so many damn networks the idea has at least crossed my mind.... Astrix(sp) phones network, mythtv network, linux mce, data network, security network, and who knows what else. I need some bandwidth with some of those.

Go with Cat6 in the house, that's what I did, plenty fast and I have a lot of data. Thought about running Fiber to my brothers house, but a little too spendy (3000ft).
