even more than they did before. I've got four (4) ksport gravel spec struts, with LOWER spring perches. Two fronts, two rears. I've also got four (4) matching springs - these are 2.5" ID x 11" x 270lb/in. Two are marked 11", two are marked 11.5", all four are exactly the same length. Take a guess as to how accurate the spring rates are. They have 3 months of use on them, alongside several months sitting around. Two springs still have a good portion of the paint still on them, one has very little, the last has almost none. These DO NOT include tophats or upper spring perches. They do have the one strut nut per strut, though. These suck and are incomplete. $best offer I'm in blaine. Interested parties may PM or post here, even if it does mean you're of questionable intelligence.
You should just scrap them or something dude. People here aren't going to want to pay for coilovers unless they have all the necessary .. equipment
Sure. I was planning on popping one anyway, for the same reason. Figured i would give it a shot, though. You never know when somebody might be building a giant pogo stick or something. It worked when carl was selling them. EDIT: actually...
so if I use my exisiting top mounts from my 03 wrx they will work? What sucks about them? I pm'ed you an offer
Not without an upper spring perch and some sort of sleeve to bring the shaft diameter up (they would be loose otherwise). Even then, i don't know. 05+ STi tophats, maybe more likely. An upper perch wouldn't be too hard to make, if you happen to be or know a machinist. I'll provide a print if you happen to be so lucky. They pretty much just are junk. Carl tells me the ride sucked. The springs are quite rusty already. strut body has some small spots of surface rust.
Actually, yes, they would work with a sleeve for the shaft, so they don't rattle around, and an upper perch. I just stuck a stock tophat on one, and there appears to be plenty of clearance. EDIT: one stock tophat included at no extra charge. Has two of three studs.
like andrew said you'd need to fab some additional parts for them to work with stock tophats because andrew has already partially scrapped them out for the useful bits. I bought these new and ran them for 3 months. they developed strut clunk within 20 miles lol! I lubricated each strut every weekend and they continued to clunk. I could never get the damping dialed in so they all rode together (inconsistant valving). build quality was awful - after 3 months they looked like they had 5 years of hard use. the front struts had play between the piston and cylinder (simulated a bad wheel bearing when pushing/pulling on the wheel). the adjusters would freeze up in winter - very difficult to adjust and you could not feel the "clicks". fronts are nearly impossible to adjust damping on - I had to build my own tool to do it because of how the bottom of the strut sits over the cv joint. shall I continue? they actually performed alright on gravel but their valving could not handle harsh bumps so they really only worked on smooth gravel. probably the worst ride quality i have ever felt.
