NEVERMIND, NOT FOR SALE ANYMORE. these http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop/kartboy-wrx-sti-solid-front-endlinks-p-2583.html Used for about 1k miles. $100 new, asking $75. Here's my story of clunking whiteline FSB. I've been hunting down a clunk noise forever. I've read everything in the universe about FSB clunk and nothing has worked; extra grease, extra torque, less torque, crying my eyes out...So I put the stock endlinks back on, and the problem was solved, mostly. I couldn't get one of the bolts tightened down all the way, so I've still got a little noise. The the bolt is so loose that I can wiggle it with my hands. So I tried to tighten it and have ruined the rubber gasket around the bolt. In addition, I've stripped it to hell and now I'm stuck. So can anybody help me cut this bolt out? I also need a set of stock endlinks to go back on my 2005 WRX, cause I've really destroyed mine. I hate it when fixing something is code for me not being careful and actually breaking something. I though I was so close to fixing my noise and now, so far away, at least until mnsubaru saves the day.
Those Sears bolt outs work *great*. Put a socket on the end that's still good, bolt out on the other, and voila, pop it right off. I used them last year to remove the secure lug nuts from my car after I lost the key. Secure my arse ! They were easier to get off than the normal nuts. Stuart.
there's only one end on these bolts, and i've ruined it. the other is a pillow ball or something. though maybe i can hack into it, square it off and throw some lock pliers on.
Your endlink is attached with something other than the nut and bolt arrangements pictured here... (yes, I know these are rears) Is it possible that having the wrong nut/bolt combo in there has been your problem all along ? Stuart.
they look like these, bottom right of pic http://www.boostbuddy.com/catalog/wrx%20lateral%20links.jpg
I think those are STi links, meant to fit the aluminium control arms, not the standard WRX ones. The bolt outs might still help. They'll quite happily grip the side of a totally round nut, e.g. Subaru Locking Lug Nuts. Stuart.
there should be a nut on the other side under the rubber boot. You don't have to take the rubber part off or anything... you should be able to fit some locking pliers or something similar around it. Pissed me off too till Thomas pointed it out to me. You have to catch it just right. Give it another shot before you frustrate yourself more trying to cut it out of some awkward nook.
I was reading about somebody else wrestling with these things that employed a saws-all. Great idea. The bolt is now removed. I put my Kartboys back on again and now the clunk is gone...for now. It always seems to come back though. I'm afraid.
