    Hi all,

tl;dr - Set of four Koni yellow inserts for sale, make an offer. Twin cities area in-person sale preferred, so that you can assess their condition before purchasing (cosmetically imperfect due to previous owner's bad install into the strut bodies). Sold 'as is', see below.

A while back I bought a set of Koni yellow inserts for $500 that were pre-mounted into sedan strut bodies. The seller said they had been used for about 15000 miles.

I decided to go with KYB GR2s instead of the Konis, and so pulled the Koni's out of the box for the first time a few months ago so that I could resell them.

The bad news is that the person who originally sold me the Koni yellow adjustable struts did not tell me the whole truth. When I took them out to photograph, I noticed that they have some issues (you may find them minor or major, depending on your DIY skills):

    a) some of the rubber parts are worn/split and should probably be replaced - minor.
    b) one of the rubber 'bump stops' is missing and needs to be replaced - minor.
    c) when they cut the original Subaru sedan struts apart to install the Koni strut inserts inside, they did not do this correctly. There are a couple small 'bumps' on the outside of the Koni inserts that are supposed to slide inside the Subaru strut bodies, but they cut the bodies too much so the bumps are outside of them. This means that the inserts aren't centered and locked into the strut bodies like they are supposed to be. Personally I don't think this is safe, because it means that the inserts can shift or rattle around during driving.

Because of these facts, the strut assemblies aren't in a 'ready to install' state like I thought they were. The strut inserts still look good to my eye (other than some yellow paint on their bodies being rubbed off because of issue c above), but I would say that the best route to install them on your car would be to get another set of Subaru/9-2X strut bodies (probably just the ones you are removing from your car), cut them properly, and then 'steal' the rubber parts from them and reassemble the setup.

Let me know if you have any questions. As mentioned above, this will be an 'as is' sale because of the issues I've described - but I've done my best to describe the situation and their condition as honestly as I can, and for the right buyer this should be a great deal [IMG] I'd prefer to sell these locally (twin cities area) so that you can take a look at them yourself before pulling the trigger. I'm new to this site but you can look up my posts on Saab92X.com with the same username.

    Regards,
    Eric
