I'm selling my Asus M2N E-SLI motherboard. I cannot get it to run properly with Vista and I don't have a floppy drive so I can't get it to run with Win XP properly, either.

However, if you would like an SLI-capable motherboard that runs Hard Drives via IDE cables in Windows XP this is the board for you. By all accounts this thing smokes in Win XP and if you've got a floppy drive you can even run SATA RAID. (Note: You'll need to download the drivers yourself and put them on a 3.5 floppy. Then during the Win XP load-up screen you have to add 3rd party drivers).

Just don't bother trying to run Vista. I've spent the last two days upgrading/wiping/rewiping/downloading new drivers/etc. in futile attempts to get it to run stable in Vista. I had stability for awhile but with the new drivers (and SP1) it doesn't work. Perhaps in another month or two nVidia, Asus and Microsoft will pull their collective heads out of their asses and fix the problem.

Anyway, I'm pissed off so someone can get a great motherboard for cheap. $20 obo.

I can bring it to FS or you can come to my house in Plymouth and get it.

The problem is not with the board, it's Vista. But no reason to give up. Get a floppy drive. I've got one you can have.

Thanks for the offer of the floppy drive. I might take you up on that depending on the availability of boards at GenNan.

The board, as far as I can tell, is running perfectly. It's the nForce 500 chipset that isn't properly supported in Vista that is gumming up the works.

XP supports a usb floppy for adding controllers for the setup.

More like the BIOS supports access to the floppy drive via USB controller. The OS sends a request to the floppy (through the BIOS) and the bios sends that to the usb drive.

I'm an impulse buyer. Anyone who has sold me parts knows that.

I have a new mobo and two new video cards. And a new power supply en route.

This should be FAST when it's done.

We've had this discussion. Your floppy needs to much attention to make it user-friendly. I like my hardware HARD.

Just kidding. Thanks for the offer but no one was online in time to save me from myself.
