Long story short, this is a universal shift knob. It came with 3 plastic inserts to mount it to your shifter. The largest one that is used for my shifter broke. Import image won't let me return/exchange it and doesn't sell replacement inserts. And NRG doesn't sell items to the public so I got shafted. It has 2 smaller inserts that are fine but won't fit my 04 WRX (not sure if earlier/later years have the same shifter.) willing to trade as well....
sounds like the issue is he doesn't have options for a replacement insert and can't return the incomplete (and used) part
It's new Ben. It wasn't about the incomplete part. If any part is installed they won't allow you to return it. (Per their policy) including shift knobs unfortunately. I've had some other issues in the past with them so I won't be doing business there again.
Well it isn't "new" if it was installed. So what happened? Did the threads strip out? The insert crack?
If I could just order a replacement from NRG itd be no big deal. But they told me to speak to my vendor which was obviously a dead end. So at the end of the day unless somebody takes it I have a $40 paper weight. I just feel that it's poor customer service.
Did you call Josh back and tell him they won't sell to you directly? Did you ask him if he would reach out to them to get the part since it is the only way you can do it?
Get a hold of Josh, he's a very reasonable guy and a respected forum sponsor. Hell, he's thousands of miles away and he's a paid forum sponsor. Guess how many local forum sponsors we have? Anyway, in my experience he's not the type to pass the blame. Just sounds like a crappy product to me.
