Bummer, you should have just got the set that was already blasted. What color are they (sort of) now? I have a friend who might need a winter set (might be getting an STi) - will let you know if it happens...
for 300 you can pay to have them painted or powder coated and still spend less then brand new gold ones. if they were 5x100 I would think about it...
I think he's been painting, then starting over again then painting again a few times on that one. lol
I started with a totally different color. Stripped three of them, finished two and winter came so I just put the winters back on the BBS's. These were going to be winter wheels. Now I just don't care and want them gone. Have my eye on just picking up some summer wheels. There, that's the story. And it looks like that because of the stripped I used. It was more than a PITA to get it like that. I just wanted to get them blasted, but the company I was trying to get to do it, never got back to me. So f*ck it.
fwiw, I had my other set blasted here: Plastec Blasting - 8351 Lake Drive - Lino Lakes, MN - 651-783-7322 This is the guy Twin City powdercoat sends their stuff to. Cost was $80 for all four.
Hey thanks bud. I like these wheels, but I want something a bit more slutty if ya know what I mean! Number stored for future use. Thanks again.
It's not the painting that pisses me off. It's the sanding. I need them blasted and i'll be fine. Just don't know if I really want to keep them or not.
I did. I have used it before in the shop and it always works. This time, not so much. See lower left wheel in pics. The one on the lower right got the aircraft remover and ended up like the one on the left. After about 10 hours of sanding, it looks like it does now and still needs to be sanded. The first two were easy because they were painted straight to teal. The bottom two were a baby blue at first, which is why I used the remover to begin with. I should have just gone with your opinion and my gut and went straight to teal. Now, I would just rather get them blasted and be done with it or sell them. Either or. If someone wants them before they get to that point, then so be it, if not, I will keep them. Not a big deal.
