I know we have a few bike nerds around here. I have a Soma Clarence alt bar with a 31.8 clamp for sale. Lots 'o sweep. I rode this on a Marin Muirwoods on-road only. No off road use. No bends, only some very minor scratches from wiggling the tight brake levers on and off (see pics) IMG_20170511_085438.jpg IMG_20170511_085407.jpg IMG_20170511_085452.jpg IMG_20170511_085552.jpg Great shape.

Oops! Somehow I duplicated the photos. If a mod could please clean that, I'd appreciate it.

Try it! This has a bit more sweep than the Salsa Bend bars.

I love the woodchippers on my Fargo, but man do these look comfy as hell.

Thanks Brochacho. I got too happy with the 'full image' button.

They are pretty comfy. The width is nice too.

Sounds like you're a Salsa fan. I've never owned one, but envied them for many years. They make some really nice stuff. I do like steel, though, hence my Muirwoods.

What a beaut!! I don't know that the shape could quite stand up to my off road shenanigans.

It's pretty stout. Soma says it was designed for offroad use. I guess it depends on what kind of shenanigans you're talking about!

General douchef***ery mostly. Racing 'cross, long gravel races with big hills, and all of the single track my 'cross bike will take (so everything within' 100 miles of Minneapolis). All this while hammering a single gear. The bars get cranked on HARD when you refuse to dismount fir a huge run-up, rutty uphill or a terrifyingly rocky descent.

Dismounting is for suckers. These would be a bit odd on a cross bike, but you never know. Maybe run them upside down. The sweep angle does make them easier to crank on, though. Puts the hands in a stronger position for torquing than a straight bar.
