So here's the deal. I bought the 5 gallon pail of extra S gear oil from Subaru over the weekend because I have two Subaru's that were both due for Diff and Manual transmission changes. I figured it would be a lot easier and probably cost about the same in the long run to get the extra S instead of carrying 7 bottles of gear lube out of a store. I opened only the small cap on top to pour the fluid I needed into a secondary container so there is zero contamination in the remaining fluid. I figure I should have about 13qts left and I have plenty of empty containers around the garage so you can bring the fluid home. Based on a quick Google search theses are the standard Subaru capacities: Auto trans front diff - 1.3 qts 5 speed manual trans - 3.7 qts 6 speed manual trans - 4.3 qts Rear diff - .9 qts Price is $10 a qt Let me know how much you want
Sorry, I'm going to have to **** on your thread here. Why on earth would I want to pay you $10 per quart for Extra S, when I can get it at the dealership for $6.86/qt?
Usually. But in this situation, when the cost of the stuff retail is over 33% cheaper, I felt the need to say something.
Sorry I didn't know Minnetonka sold it by the qt. I thought it was only available in the 20 L pails. Plus I was half asleep when I posted this. Due to a respectable PM from someone just looking out I decided to lower the price to $5 a qt. And what the hell, if your feeling lazy and don't want to do it yourself it'll be $10 a qt installed
So... I ran out of extra-s and need a little bit more. I just called Minnetonka Subaru and they are saying $16 a qt now! Did the price of gear oil double or something? Or did I miss something...
