No longer have a house so lawn mower needs to go. It's push mower that I bought from Lowes last year with Honda GCV160 engine. I used it for maybe 3 to 4 months now it's just sitting in my storage unit. I am not sure on the model, will have to check when I have time but it looks like this image I found on Lowes web site. $120
It states, PUSH. Even the picture is of a push mower. Here, is it a briggs and straton? Look, even I can do it!
A push mower is exactly that. A self-propelled is, be definition, not a push mower. The cable and handle is to keep the engine running. If you release that red handle, the motor stops. Safety feature. Self-propelled have a separate bar or lever to engage the drive.
Not really. "Push mowers can be self propelled" is incorrect by definition. Now, if you had said, "Self propelled mowers can also be pushed" then I'd give it to you.
The correct term for a non-riding mower is a "walk behind". A walk behind mower can be self-propelled or pushed. Self-propelled mowers usually have two separate dead-man controls, one for the drive wheels and one for the engine or blade brake. The original picture shows only one of these controls.
I mow lawns for a living your all stupid and should stop arguing if your not going to buy it.. P.S. push mowers can be self propelled if it wasnt a "push" mower it would be a riding mower.. SMH..
So all self-propelled mowers are riding mowers? Here, let me illustrate: "All riding mowers are self-propelled, but not all self propelled mowers are riding mowers." "All walk-behind mowers are walk-behind, but some are self propelled." ('some' = mowers that can be self-propelled OR pushed) "All walk-behind mowers are walk-behind, but some are not self-propelled." (<---'some' = push mowers) "All self-propelled mowers can self-propel, but some can be pushed." ('some' = self-propelled walk-behind and NOT riding) I hope that's helpful. BTW, I don't give a crap if you use a lawnmower for your job. I know a great many people that use computers all day for their job and don't know anything about them. How many drivers out there actually know anything about their cars? Technically, you could push a riding mower as well. Though, I wouldn't recommend it.
im also the guy who fixes all the mowers and does the repairs for them and have been doing so since i was 14 years old, if you can walk behind it you can push it wether or not it is "self propelled" or as some companies define it "push assist" but it looks like you hit the nail on the head with you statements. as far as pushing a riding lawn mowers not bad, and not all riding lawn mowers need to be ridden and some walkbehind mowers can be ridden =)
LOL. Well, that's different. I have ridden a self propelled walkbehind mower. It's been a few years. That was back when you could engage the drive and just hop on. No sissy safety bar-kill switch thing. Anyway, OP, GLWS!
Just in case this now horribly-popular thread finds extra attention of those seeking a machine for cutting their grass, I would like to call dibs (Yes, I have been in touch with the seller).
