    -Buzzing from rear end

So i just made a trip through the garage to take out the trash and noticed a buzzing noise coming from Blu. Sounded like the fuel pump. I knelt down and it definitely sounds like fuel pump. It was running for about 3-4 minutes and stopped. I’m not sure how long it had been running before that, as it was running when i came out into the garage.

Why would the fuel pump be running at 11pm.? Last time that the car was on was around 6pm. Any ideas? Gremlins? Goblins? Honey badgers ?

    Thanks
    -Josh

I've heard something like that from my engine bay before. Well after i drove the car, it would buzz. I thought it was my throttle body but never did figure it out.

I bet you got a deal on the car cause it's haunted. Did the listing say "definitely not haunted"? That sounds suspicious to me.

Maybe you're about to be moved to the night shift and the fuel pump knows it and you don't yet.

Could it be the pump for the air suspension? :)

Lol, you guys are too much!:bounce:

The night shift is unlikely. The air suspension woud be dopery tho! Lol. It was very strange!

Sounded just like the bugeye when i’d turn the key forward for a second before i’d start it and i could hear the fuel pump priming. Only, on its own with no key....

My SJ Forester does the same. I wondered what the heck it was the first time I heard it.

It's a pump that runs 4-5 hours after the last drive. It's part of the emissions system and recovers fuel vapor. (or something along those lines...) I'm assuming this is the same thing.

Welcome to owning a modern Subaru!

Probably has a fuel system purge protocol to relieve pressure while parked. A lot of modern cars have something similar. Not sure about the brwannabe but worth looking into.

I noticed the same thing with our Legacy shortly after we brought it home. Was thoroughly confused at first but Sneefy and Idget are pretty much spot-on.

Perfect! That’s what I figured. I thought it had to be a fuel pressure regulator of sorts. Just never had anything like it on the bugeye.:)

My second thought was that my car keys were too close to the car or something because i can essentially start it with the keys hanging inside. Just can’t drive out of the garage without them! Lol.

I was hoping that she was just purring at me when I walked in the garage letting me know that she’s ready to go! Hahaha.

    Thanks for the input fellas!

I'm late to the discussion but the answer is correct.
