I have an 02 WRX and get a fuel smell in the winter. I was checking on I-clubs and they said it was pretty common. Anyone else here get that smell? Will any of the dealers around here fix it under warranty?

its not warranty...its a TSB, but if your car is under warranty, it might be covered

Ah the dreaded fuel smell problem in the 02 WRX! I've had this problem since I've owned my car and it drives me crazy. It was just out of warranty when I realized it and none of the local dealers would fix the problem without charging me near $600. In the spring I will fix it myself, but for now I have learned to live with it. Just put your vents on recirculate and it isn't as bad. Good luck.

I had the same problem (seems almost all '02s have it) and tried to go through the dealership but they wouldn't cover any of it. Rightfully so too. My car had high miles and was purchased through a private party.

Maybe if you bought the car from the same dealer and it has reasonable miles they would cover part of it but don't hold your breath. Subaru was apparently able to show it wasn't a safety issue (which would require a recall) so that's why they aren't liable.

The parts end up being like $100. It's just some longer hoses and new clamps. I never actually did it (using STI TGVs and fuel system now) but the intake manifold needs to be removed.
