I'm looking to make my RS cool and to start off i want to get a full exhaust system, everything from the headers to the TIP.. any recomendations for a complete set up? :?:
well..how much you willing to spend? and are you going for looks? or power? or both? well it all really depends on what you want to do with the car, as for mines, i want power for heavier loads and for beating others on the streets.so yea...just keep on posting.. wagonL
***Headers: *Borla--very rumbly because not equal-length, but only provides power on the low end and 5 HP at most. Can be used for an aftermarket turbo setup. *TWE--equal-length and ends at OEM location. Can be used for an aftermarket turbo setup. *Cobb Tuning--equal-length, provides high flow cat and ends at the catback location. No turbo setup will fit. ***Cat section: *Random Tech--will fit on any N/A Impreza RS with OEM, Borla, or TWE headers. Not very cheap for a little gain in HP. ***Catback: *Aftermarket for the Impreza RS--too much to list. *Custom--custom bends aren't that bad and the cost a fraction of the cost of an aftermarket catback. Shops usually use aluminized steel for price reduction which may rust over several years in MN.
klesk got an ebay can and had a local shop do 2.5" piping from the cat back. people here seem to think it sounds amazing. since these parts are under your car they dont have to be shiny. i say get a set of Fuji-Headers (assuming your singleport), if you get Fuji headers get a full Fuji exhaust. just my .02, since fuji's car sounds mean, with the same set up your will sound mean.
but his car is a 2.5 RS SOOOOOO fujis headers wont work, ALL 2.5s are dual port...that is untill i do my swap!
You get the headers and I could build you a system... even out of stainless if you want.. it wont be mandrel bends but mine isnt and neither is Fooos'.... We could work out a sweet deal... I need to make some cash..ha ha Havent had a paycheck in 12mths.. people think cause you own a business you have money... nope it is all in the business... any money I have goes to bills... he he I will be doing some up-pipe installs by the looks of it soon.. so I could set up a day with you to do your cat back... / header back.. but cant help with the headers though... sorry...
this will be happening in about a month or so..i need to save up money and i just think its better to plan ahead. i think i am gonna go with the cobb stage 2 system but i will be needing some help installing it so ill deffinatly contact you first.. thanks for the offer.. maybe 100$ the estimated install time is 3 hours...
I've heard the cobb exhaust on an 05 RS(Ochman20) and I think it sounds pretty good. My setup was with a 2.5" Brullen twin tip which was awesome but isn't made anymore. If you want Cobb Equal length headers I have a used set for sale for 500 with the coating and catless section(saves you 300+). Let me know if you're interested. Pete Edit - what year is your RS?
Cobb headers or TWE headers are two of the best headers out there. The Cobb headers are a bit better in shape, but they both are equal length. This equal length will not give you the rumble like what you'd hear on my car or the stock WRX/STi's, BUT this is the sacrafice for god flow in exhaust for power. A good aftermarket exhaust system will cost you a bunch, almost $900 give or take for the whole system. Catalatyc converters aren't cheap. Of course mine won't fit yours because I have single port. hahaha BUT mine are custom headers though as well as a custom catback. My headers are unequal length. I basically did it for the sound, and a little performance in collector design. For sound I'd suggest Borla headers. For power, Cobb or TWE depending if you want to eliminate cats or keep cats. He has '05 RS?
yeah 05.. the one im looking to buy says it would fit and 03.. i assume that would stil fit wouldnt it?>
