So I have been looking for a wingless trunk FOREVER and nobody had one. I parked my car in a ramp at St. Cloud State (after just being pulled over for loud exhaust) and was explaining to my girlfriend how clean in looks to have a wingless trunk. As we turned the corner I pointed to a WRX and said there, looks just exactly like that wingless trunk. I ended up leaving a note on the guys WRB WRX and said "I want your wingless trunk. Been looking everywhere for one. I have a big STi wing, would you want to trade? I'll pay you cash on top of the trade. Call me" Sure enough the next day I got a call. Paid the guy 110 bucks (which is a lot but nothing compared to buying new) and now have my wingless beauty. Now just have to take off the WRX and Subaru badges. But I am a very happy camper now.
Yeah IDK he was on the fence. He has a WRX so he kind of wanted the wing but didn't think he should. I bought myself a christmas present, and helped him pay for all of his haha! Can't feel bad about that
I'm a fan of the wingless look, did anything happen with the loud exhaust situation? What is you exhaust set up?
I have an Invidia Catted downpipe with the AMS Catback. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Looks exactly stock though so when he asked if I changed mufflers I said no it's louder due to a new downpipe (that still passed emissions, and engine work, neither of which are true but he believed it). I asked him once he told me that he was giving me a warning..... Is there an official law or do you just get to determine what is too loud? And he replied that if the exhaust is louder than the engine, it's illegal according to him. I very politely reminded him that every diesel truck in the world would be illegal off the showroom floor, and that just about every gas truck owner in the greater st. cloud area should be in jail for how damn loud they are. He Laughed and said, yeah you are probably right and left. Just one more example of how the law is ridiculous.
My story is better. I was drunk driving on a frozen lake and planted my car in a show bank. I got out and grabbed for the trunk release so I could get my tow straps out, but mistakenly grabbed the gas door release. Thinking I had pulled the trunk release, I went to the back, put my hands under the wing to lift the hood, and ripped the wing right off my trunk.
Haha opposite for me. I loved it to start. Then realized I never drive 120+ where the wing helps, it's more weight to lug around, You can't see for **** out of your back window, and people call your car a ricer. Now, I personally hate the wing haha. To each his own.
+1 for Invidia/AMS. I have the same setup def wouldn't trade it for anything. Driven by quite a few cops with it at all times of the day and haven't had any issues though.
It was one of those times where you just wanna hear it a little more and let the revs climb up to 4500 even though you arent going fast. Just wanted to hear the purr.....but unfortunately the cop heard it also haha
