Basically, I'm using a hybrid mix on my car right now. I've got a set of Prodrive 05+ STI springs and a set of RCE Wagon springs. I'm using the Wagon springs on front and Prodrive on rear on my D-Specs. I'm looking to switch over to a Ground Control coil setup to get something not available in a standard spring package. I've got no pics at the moment. Half of both are on my car right now. If there is commitment for both sets by people, I'll go ahead and order the GC kit. Once I get that installed and the springs off my car, take pics, and I can ship both sets out. Until then, they're sort of stuck on my car. As well, if there really isn't interest in both spring sets, I will stick with my current setup. Prodrive 05+ STI springs: -progressive spring rate -spring stiffness similar to stock STI -240 lb/in front, 200 lb/in rear (roughly) -~20mm drop front and rear Sold RCE Wagon springs: -slighly progressive -~25% above STI rates -279 lb/in front, 259 lb/in rear -25mm drop front, 22mm drop rear Price for each set is $200 + sh. Pic of the springs: The Prodrive set that's left Wear on the Prodrives. I attempted to run a set of 27" winters for rally-x under the spring perch of an AGX sedan strut. It didn't work too well and ended up wearing to the steel belt, lol. It caused enough heat to make a mess of the plastic sheath and paint in that area. Other then the normal scratching/rust of use, that's it.
I run the 05+ prodrives, very small drop, car feels only a bit stiffer, but less bouncy and much more solid feel. I recommend Bumpo
It's basically Prodrive's attempt to make the STI ride better on the stock struts. Spring rates are near oem STI on average but progressive which makes for a more comfortable ride (although I haven't driven a stock STI to compare with). There's some desirable trickery with variable spring rate and linear damper rates too that tend to improve the ride. It's intuitive if you think about it, but I don't think it's something most folks think about.
Bump. My Ground Control kit will be here soon, so I'll have the springs off by the weekend and can ship out the end of the week or next Monday.
Bounce = too low of damper rate. Don't be a pansy, set it higher. or correctly...unless you don't have adjustable struts... :eek4: I just tossed on 350/250 springs on mine. It only rides bad if you set it wrong. I will be in the Cities at some point, at the very least the first Mowog auto-x at Valley Fair. I might be up to Grimmspeed in the next couple weeks. I'm not sure.
Will be in the Cities tomorrow if anybody wants to meet somewhere. My bro's getting his car tuned in the morning by Bullwinkle. I'm not really sure where, but we could figure something out.
No use for the Yellows. I just got rid of my Wagons and my bro's got the Blacks. The Yellows should sell pretty readily though as they're pretty popular. Toss a FS thread on Nasioc.
