I had RS tune my car also. He came out and talked to me about the mods to the car asked what I was looking for. Then... He asked what fuel I have been using. I told him and he replied that he wouldn't be able to tune it on that gas. He gave me two options reschedule or have them drain and put real 93 octane gas in. Not wanting to be pushed back a month I had them drain the tank. He was very helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to go back there.

Continuing a little off topic, but yeah Holiday is to be avoided. To the point that when I picked up my wife's new car from Motorwerks they specifically told me to stay away from that fuel...
    +1 for BP

Isn't almost all the gas supplied from pine bend or northern tier up here?
I'm pretty sure most plants down south don't change to a winter blend.

I'm no expert, but it doesn't make sense for BP to ship gas all the way up here for such few stations.

Good question... Hadn't thought of that. I know a buddy who was also told to avoid them by his Porsche dealer... Wonder if the dealerships have a vendetta against holiday??

I've had multiple customers with issues fuel related and simply draining the holiday gas and putting new gas in fixed it. Even 2 cars that would barely stay running, always holiday gas

91/93 not sure if the corn is a problem there. Someone else will have to chime in on that.

mod note - I split these posts off into a new thread to keep the original "RS Review" thread more on-topic.

Now that said, does anyone have positive/negative anecdotes about SuperAmerica 92? It seems to work OK for me.

I had a friend who hauled gas for SA. He told me not to get gas there, lol. So i don't.

I've always had good luck with Kwik Trips gas.

Ron tuned me on a mix of 91 from shell and holiday and he said that he couldn't get the max out of my setup because the holiday gas does not do well with high boost(tends to detonate) but I always use either Bp or shell now so I know I'm safe.

I have always been curious on how people rank gas stations. I go to BP all the time but I have always wondered where I should go if i ever can't find a BP station.

Well, to be honest I should clarify this has just been my preference -now I come to think of BP has somehow always been more conveniently located for me so I have developed a subjective preference...

I usually get SA 92 or Kwik trip 91 or fleet farm 92 and it seems to run just fine on them.

Anyone use Costco fuel? I am brand new to worrying about this sort of thing but I picked up 2016 WRX last Thursday so now I need to know. I'll get some pics up in the welcome mat and hopefully make it to a gathering at some point :)

on a factory map i don't think you'll need to worry about different types of 91 or higher fuel, the factory map is supposed to be "safe". When your tuned id say find a gas station and stick with it. I've always ran BP 93 on my 93 tune, and I've always ran shell or bp 91/93 on my 91 octane map because my car runs nicely with those gases.

I wonder if gas stations have to disclose where they get supplied from?

Someone who goes to a bp gas station should ask! ^.^, i don't have anything that runs 93 anymore.

    I have a 1993 Legacy Wagon.
    2.2L N/A.
I am pretty consistent on Running Holiday Fuel. But once or twice a month you can catch me adding S.A. fuel because im broke and only need $5-10 to make it to pay day.

    Anyways.
I try my best to run my car on E30.
    (Stock No tune)
    I purchased from holiday.
100% ethonal is rated at 110 octane.
    I pump my gas 2-1.
    2 gallons regularly
    1 gallon E85
    Which makes E30
With the estimated octane out put of 92-95.
    The tource
torque in my car starts earlier about 2000 RPM.
    And you can feel it.
The difference i noticed is at idle the RPMs sit a bit lower and you can watch the needle it has the slightest bounce. Like V8 lined up at the drag strip. I enjoy it.
(Also i lost 0.8 mpg, i can't say i was driving in a manner that would have allowed getting the same MPGs. I lost 14 mile on the tank.)

Other cars i have run E30 on are

    1988 mercury Cougar 5.0L

First gear pull on gas 42mph at redline.

First gear pull on E30 50mph at redline. (No tune)

    2012 Chevy Cruz 1.6L turbo

It eliminated the turbo leg. Before 2500RPMs. Giving the car power all the way through to range.
I think it was 1.5 mpgs lost.

I tried E55 it tripped the 02 sensor we lost power down low. Got a large boost up top. We didn't find going higher worth it. (without a tune.)

Thats all i can contribute on the topic. I swear by E30.

BP's are the only stations in the metro that offer 93 octane. If you're tuned on 93, BP is your only option.

If you're tuned on 91, it sounds like Ron has data to show that Holiday 91 doesn't do as well as others (not sure compared to what though). But BP 93 is going to be better than any 91 octane.

Holiday E85 on the other hand, should be consistent across Holiday stations. A friend of mine actually called the Holiday corporate office and spoke with the product manager for E85 at Holiday. Apparently all Holiday stations get their E85 from the same source. So at the same time of year, the ethanol percentage in E85 should be the same across all Holiday stations. But the ethanol percentages are typically lower in the colder months.

Without actual data, it is pretty hard to rank one gas station above another. When in doubt, talk to your tuner. If you're stock and not tuned and your car requires premium, I'd say shoot for BP 93 and only run 91 or 92 when you have to.

Flex fuel anything implies an inline ethanol content sensor. You should be able to run just about anything ok.
