Didn't find any threads about it (although I didn't look super hard). This normal? (2015 WRX, all stock)
what application is that? also are those the numbers your car is putting up? seems about right for a wrx. lower 20's for hwy if you beat on it. if i dont beat on it while cruising on the hwy i get 25-35mpg It depends on what season it is too for fuel mixtures as well.
I use an android app called FuelLog. Car reads 2-3 mpg high but this is accurate. That's probably 80% gentle highway commuting and a little bit of fun mixed in. For this last tank that was actually 25.0 mpg, car read 27.3 mpg.
minimum of 60 miles a day roundtrip for work, plus lots of other driving... :/ Abnormal low or high? I've been starting to fill up at Sam's Club, they typically have the best prices on 92 octane
I'm messing with you. I fill up once a month so have no idea what gas prices are most of the time. Gas mileage looks right. As for the discrepancy, thats pretty standard. Most cars count injector pulses and divide that over time to give you the dash readout. That calculation assumes perfect conditions and a clean burn. Lots of real world factors that effect the combustion efficiency (ethanol content, incomplete spark, etc) and distance reading (probably tire size depending on where the distance data is coming from) account for the difference. Use the dash gauge as a rough tool to track trends and as a precision tool (higher or lower then normal) then something like the app youre using if youre interested in accuracy.
I bought a TDi Golf.. average 43-46mpg... even hit 49mpg one tank... sucks diesel prices havent dropped like gas... anyone who expects great mpg from an awd vehicle didnt think it through ahhahaha that being said.. I miss my FOZ
Lol I wasn't expecting great mileage. I came from a 2008 Civic, averaging 38mpg and getting up to 43mpg on a cross country tank once. I bought the AWD for the performance, wondering what kind of mpg I could push out of it
funny thing is if you have a stock car and take it to Nuke and do some mild tweaks.. you get better boost, more power and better mpg hahaha
I've been adding lucas fuel treatment to every tank this winter and have noticed my car sounds better at start up and increased gas mileage. Unlike most fuel treatments, this isn't a harsh acetone based fuel additive. So it's able to be used on every fill-up with positive effects. I do not recommend using this on an older engine. As this product might clean carbon build up that maintains compression. If anyone has any more insight to lucas oil fuel treatment, that would be great.
FYI, those fuel treatments are BS...also the thing about breaking up carbon that maintains compression is a myth. That Lucas additive is just a light oil with a little detergent and will not give you any better gas mileage and only has minor cleaning properties. If you want to clean your fuel system periodically there are much better products (with PEA in them like Red Line fuel system cleaner or gumout) and if you want to increase your mileage fill up with good gas and stay out of boost. Adding something to your tank every time you fill up seems like a pain in the ass and would get expensive. Even if it did get you 1-2 mpg increase (it doesn't) the cost of the additive would negate any fuel savings
I stopped keeping track ever since I watched my gas gauge drop after WOT on the on ramp to get on the hwy.....there just isnt't a point anymore! I lose one bar going to and from work.....with grandpa driving. 18miles one way, I gave up.
