ok so i've tightened down that gas cap, even cleaned it off... and I still kick that check light after about 40 miles or so... thinking about just turning off the stupid code... unless I get a "thats a bad idea man" I really don't want to spend 100 bucks off my deductable to get a new cap or sensor.
I ran a few bottles of chevron tectron injector cleaner thru 3 tanks (one bottle a tank) and my cel has gone away for 3 months now. Give it a try.
Check the connections around the charcoal canister. It's possible that something got fubared or disconnected from your little snow mayhem last week. If it's anything like the other imprezas, it will be by the rear swaybar on the pass. side.
check the little hose that conncets to the blue nipple (no nipple jokes) under the hood to the left of the alternator
If the problem is corrected that initially triggered a CEL, it usually takes 4 start and run cycles for the light to go off. Drive it around for a day or two and see if it goes away.
My CEL 546 EVAP was the connection to the solenoid in the charcoal canister. The solenoid wasn't getting a signal, something to do with faulty wiring. Check the plug that goes to the solenoid (black box between bumber and sway bar passenger side). Also, take off the back seat and check the wiring harness plug. I think the solenoid is the yellow/green stripe and the brown/yellow stripe. I've got a crude wiring diagram here. http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20714&highlight=diagnoser
i'll check all solutions that I can, other then that... subaru will fix it... cuz a simple romp in the snow shouldn't be kickin codes.
whats is this canister you speak.... and what is it's pourpous so I can figure out why it sucks so bad ...
Filters air going to and from the gas tank to allow for expansion and use of fuel. Charcoal is there to prevent the raw fuel smell.
this is seemingly a common problem as i'm reading.. has anyone made a mod for this? or a better part or something? and would it be dangerous to just turn off the code?
