Im putting in a set of copper exhaust head to mani gaskets today. Was wondering which direction would you guys suggest facing the flare? I would think you want it up to the head as it is the flat mating surface for the flare to form to. Thoughts?

I would put the "flared" side of the gasket on the pipe side. This side has a better chance of warping (or not being completely flat to begin with) or having irregularities in it.
