Do GC8's typically have a sloppy shifter feel? This is coming from a DSM guy :p

I havnt driven enough GC8's to know what the deal is. Maybe its just bad shifter bushings on this particular car? I don't know. My 1GA DSM's shifter was rock solid after installing metal shifter bushings. The shifter on this GC8 has a lot of side to side play, and some up and down play, while in gear and out of gear. Which I thought was a bit odd.

Maybe I can test drive someone's GC8 around the block to compare?

Where can I find Fue? He is suppose to be well known in this forum. I'm an old friend of his. We went to elementary and highschool together. I just saw him at Como Zoo not too long ago.

You may need to replace the bushings at the knuckle on the shift shaft, at the tranny.

I just did this las week on our 94 Legacy. Took about an hour. I also put in a return spring. Once I got under the car, I discovered I had no bushings and no spring. Now...its amazing! Didnt take much, a long punch to remove the roll pin, 2 12mm wrenches and a tap from an air chisel.
