I have a project car - 94L with JDM Sti engine & transmission. I have renewed the bushes in the stick pivot (which look to have come of the old original car), and the tranny linkage universal joint bushes look new and tight too (part of the low mileage STI donor). The spring is still fitted to the universal joint but the stick does not center. Looking at the desgn I can't see how just that one spring would ever center the stick. The spring pulls the stick from the 5th gear position but thats it. It doesn't seem to be doing anything between 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th. Anybody else have/fixed this issue? I am just tempted to add a few extra springs to correctly pull the stick to the 3rd/4th position. I don't have the rubber stick support fitted at the moment - I am not sure if the rubber boot adds a centering action too. Thanks .
