Alright, here's the second ad I'll be putting up this week. I'm starting to feel like a Subaru dealership on my own. I'm seeing if anyone is interested in Jacks car. I've been going through and working on some of the things that the car needed, missing hardware, cracked interior panels, etc. I'm working on sourcing two fenders for it, as the left one has a wrinkle and the right has some paint chips. I have a TurboXS Stealthback ready to go for the car, I just haven't installed it. It's a TBE, GMBCS and a tune away from being a strong Stage II car, as Jack ported and polished the turbo before he sold it. The clutch is in great shape, and I'm suspecting it may be an aftermarket unit based on the pedal feel, because it's stiffer than any stock WRX clutch that I've driven. My RS clutch feels nonexistent compared to this one. Link to Jacks FS thread: http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32623 I've fixed a leak in the collector to uppipe area so you can hit boost and not sound like a train whistle. I will also be removing the pinstripes and touching up whatever spots I can. The car drives great, and I have no complaints with it. I've got an opportunity to get another car and I need to get this one sold. All of the major maintenances have been done, and the car got me back from CA without a single hiccup. Trade to retail ranges from 5500 to around 9k. I'm not looking to make a killing on this car, I just would like to see it go to someone who is looking for a good car at a good price. I'm looking for 7.5k OBO. I will include the TBE with the car, and it will have both cat and race pipes so the owner can decide which they'd rather run. Thanks for looking!
ahhhh! briiian nooooooo haha I really hope this car does to someone in the club. It treated me very well.
As far as parts that are being replaced on the car, I'm replacing a number of missing clips, the rear gate panel, a missing intercooler bracket and some smaller odds and ends. I'm also trying to track down a turbo heat shield. The mechanicals on the car are good, Jack went through a lot of them already (spark plugs, t belt, fluids, etc). I also changed out the trans fluid from the Scottys when I got back from CA. I'm going to have the car realigned as it's a bit aggressive right now. I found that it has a Vishnu underdrive/lightweight crank pulley, which may explain part of why it pulls so hard for a stage 1 car. It's also quiet as hell at cruise, Jack did some dynamatting in the car.
Does it still grind when you shift it down into first, like it did shortly before Jack bought it? So the shocks are probably original then?
Every Subaru 5mt grinds when you try shifting down into first, this isn't a new phenomenon. A quick search on Nasioc will give you pages of threads where this is explained ad nauseam. I know they do it, that's why I don't try doing it. The car has no shifting issues and I took the Scottys Cocktail out as soon as I got it back here. The shocks look like stock ones to me, I can't tell if they are original or not.
hey man im in need of a wrx for my wife, just a couple questions why are you askin 7500 if you got it for 5200? did u add stuff or repair something? would you sell just stock with out the exhaust i just want stock,,,, thanks andy
Yes, I've been fixing and repairing things that needed to be taken care of, and I've been looking nationwide at similar cars to gauge where I should price this one. I have a copy of the Carfax for this in hand. No accidents, other than when Jack had to replace the bumper cover when he got that snowbank. It was a Texas car for most of it's life from what I can tell on the report. I will be including the Carfax buyback certificate as well.
I belive Subaru Dosen't recomend shifting into first unless your stoped or very close to it 5 to 10mph max same with shifting into reverse the car needs to be stoped no movement at all or you'll get the grind. Thats the way there made. Bump for a nice car & it was in California so little salt from the winter roads!
California and Texas, actually And you're correct on the 1st gear grinding. They don't like going into first while rolling, it's just the way they are because of the older design on the 5mt. Personally, I can't wait for people to start wrecking the 2010 Legacy with that new 6 speed so I can look at swapping one of those into my next project.
Here is another link to pictures, Jack took these before I flew out. http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r83/pra4sno/2002 wrx/
Well, looks like I've found a good home for this one as well. G 2.5rs is going to be the proud new owner! I'm hoping to have pictures of the replacement up by next week...
He'll be happy with it. Sorry about that little stuff missing, like the intercooler support bracket. Ive never liked those being there. The first gear does NOT grind like it did when I first picked the car up. It was the transmission fluid that was in it. It would, unless COMPLETELY dead stopped, complain about a downshift. It will shift into first at a roll no greater than around 5-7mph now, like all older wrx's. I cant speak for if they new ones do.
