GI: Used Borla Headers 2.5RS

I'm gonna customize a STI exhaust manifold setup. So I may not be needing these Used Borla Headers from my 01 2.5RS. Theres no cracks or warpage. I dont know about how much these go from new since its been a while since i bought them.

Equal length headers or no?

 

IIRC Borlas are unequal length so you keep the subaru rublez. These are the ones I wish I would've bought for my old 2.5RS. Bump 4 j00.

Exhaust is definitely on my mod list, but I'm still a little too much of a noob to know what exactly I want/need (got a good idea of what I want to achieve, just not really sure what gets me there, you know).

 

well, as far as headers for you:

Equal Length = no rooblez but a tiny bit more power than unequal length

Unequal length = rooblez with a little less power gain than equal

Both are better than stock.

 

Thx - that's what I read (Unabomber FAQ's FTW). I'm looking for some grumble (equal-length are out, I think) but not annoyingly/ticket-worthy loud. Main goal, though, is to add a little Tq & Hp.

I'm just not exactly sure how much needs to be swapped once I start. Can a guy do just headers at first then maybe swap for high-flow CAT then maybe cat-back, too? Or are there exhaust pieces that simply have to be done together.

And being a near-complete car noob this might be a silly question. But where does engine management come in? When do mods become too much for the stock ECU to handle properly or when does the stock ECU become a big restriction. It seems from what I've read so far that exhaust, for example, is fine and that anything involving boost absolutely requires management - anything in between I'm not so sure about.
