Any interest?? I know I need to pick up a set for the FXT, and I have seen a few people talking about it. I have a couple of local places that can take care of the tires, so I can ask about doing a GB. Both places I am going to check out are Nokian dealers. Post up if you are looking for some winter tires and I will start to pull together a list of options and prices. Once we decide if we are going to move forward with a offical GB, this thread will get moved to the FS forum. Russ
I need a new set of snows. I want to get the Hakka Rs in 205/50/16. The Hakka R has replaced the RSi as the top of the line studdless snow tire. From what I have heard Nokian only releases a new tire after it is a ~20% improvement over the previous model. I am excited
Get in touch with the folks at Tire Factory Direct. When I was looking very late in the season last year they were by far cheaper then anyone else for Nokian. Example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-Ne...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories If you start getting prices I'd be interested in the new R's provided they can get them and they aren't charging through the nose this year like they all tried to last year (barely any made it to the US).
Well, I have calls out and have stopped at a couple of places. I have to call a couple of people back next week, so I am hoping that after I get back from Ojibwe I will start to get some prices rolling it. It usually helps our cause if we can let the vendors know that we are looking at picking up 10-15-20 sets of tires. Thanks for the input, and if you could post up the sizes that you are looking for it might be a bit easier to get solid pricing back. Russ
Yep, I am down for sure. It will be nice to get them now rather than wait til the last minute. 215/45 17
from what i have been told about winter tires, they usually dont release them untill closer to snow season, or so sams club said when i was shopping for potential rallyX tires in june, he said something about maximizing storage space and manufaturing equipment for summer tires.. sounded smart for a guy hawking tires at sams club, no offence.
Here is what I took from CARS101 for what I currently have. I believe this is what I need for my 09' WRX 5-door. Please correct me if I am wrong! new gray painted alloy 17x7jj, 10spoke, 5 lug, offset 55 (2.2) new 225/40R17 Dunlop SP Sport 1 Summer Performance Tire (so you may want to buy All Season tires) Something that will fit this! Thanks Russ
would there be an advantage to me putting the 225's on mine vs 215 I have a LGT idk what you drive though. I have never bought snow's is it a good idea to stick to the same size as the factory all seasons?
i think my old hakka 1s will need to be replaced this winter. conisder me interested pending pricing. 195/60/15
I am not sure what size I need, they will be going on my stock 06 STI wheels. Does anybody know what would be a good size?
It all comes down to what factory size is, and what you want... This is for the STi, which is 225/45-17 stock. For snow, narrower is better. Now, this is where a decision needs to be made by the owner....stock, or something else? I happen to be fine with the slight over-estimate the speedo will make with the slightly smaller tires. Also, Nokian makes a 215/45-17, which may not be the case for other manuf. For someone that just wants 'plug-n-play', go with the factory size.
hey russ, can you see if we can get a deal on a rims as well? i think i am going to buy a set of winter rims with my winter tires. thanks for all the work man
Pretty sure I'm gonna be in the market for new snows this year so count me in depending on price and availability
I might need a set also if I decide to drive the rex this winter... And if I can find a good set of winter wheels!
OK, I have the feelers out, I am basically waiting on 3 different places to get back to me. So far I have had them just quoting the Hakka r's and hankook i-pike's, the winterforce and the blizzak revo. This is kinda just to get ballpark numbers and we will be able to move a bit better from there. All the places I have contacted so far said that they are just starting to get their winter pricing and availability. They have all said that they can can pretty much any of the tires, but of course, the more we get of a specific tires, the better deal we will get. I am hoping to start getting some preliminary quotes in by the beginning of next week. Russ
I will be interested as well. Tire size will be anything that fits my 17" stock 7" wheels. Potential sizes: 205/50/17 or 225/45/17
I've begun shopping for winterforces. I know narrower are better but would 195/60/R16's fare well on the WRX? Anyways...I'm in if you can get a good price. I'll be down for the October Dyno day so that'd be a good time for a pick-up as well.
I'm looking for some winters, I would love some haka rsi's, let me know what tier comes out and price as well please
